Well to be fair, President Bush did just say he would not sign a bill that support amnesty for illegal immigrants.

"I'll just call the new amnesty a 'guest worker program.'

My peons are so stupid, they'll believe anything."

I guess that depends on what your definition of the word "amnesty" is.

True but he says he wants to create a guest worker program. We already HAVE one, its called a VISA. I think this speech was weak rhetoric. I do not often say such things about my president. But on this topic he sucks.

He said nothing about the Mexican government's involvment in smuggling of people. He said nothing about cross border SHOOTING done by the Mexican military.

Hyping the doubling of border gaurds is rhetoric....when you need 30 thousand folks and you double 2 folks to 4 folks I can see why one would claim the double factor rather than the actual increase in response as to problem.

I do not think most would call W's response to illegals reasonable or fair. I support W on most of his positions but I firmly oppose him on this one.

Paul, what does creating a worker permit program do? It makes every illegal already here, "LEGAL". They will be able to get a work permit and legitimization.

I've asked this question on the forum before, and haven't gotten an answer to it. Will a government that REFUSES to send people home today, do it in six years when the worker permit expires?

This just punts the ball down the road and makes it possible for millions more foreign nationals to enter the United States via a legal vs an illegal flood of humanity. Each of them will be legal, and not a single one will EVER be asked to leave the U.S.

Bush has just committed to legitimizing a human flood of Mexican and south American immigrants into this nation that will never leave.
