AMMAN: Jordan’s state prosecutor on Sunday demanded death penalty for the Al Qaeda leader in Iraq, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, and 11 other suspects accused of plotting a chemical bomb attack on intelligence services.

“The prosecutor wrapped up his case in the trial by demanding the maximum penalty (death) for 12 suspects,” a judicial source told AFP.

A 13th suspect is being accused of a misdemeanour in the trial, in which four of the suspects, including Zarqawi, are being tried in absentia.

The nine suspects in the dock, including alleged ringleader Azmi Jayussi, and the fugitives are accused of plotting, on Zarqawi’s orders, an attack on Jordan’s intelligence agency using trucks loaded with 20 tonnes of chemicals.

Also interesting that this is being reported as an attack on Jordan's intelligence services, not a terror attack. If I remember correctly, it was estimated at the time they were caught that there would have been 30,000 casualties had this succeeded.

Repeat after me, "There are no WMD, there are no WMD, there are no WMD." There, is that better?

That`s why I think I`m living in the Twilight zone. Here we have a group of freggin` lunatics who attack anything and anybody in the world, yet all the s**t given by liberals around the world is against the US and Bush.

There is only two conclusions that can come of this:

A. Both the terrorists and liberals are completely insane.

or

B. Terrorists and liberals are one and the same.

I tend to agree with B judging by the past actions of liberals...Look at Clinton, Ted Kennedy, Kerry, Hillary, etc etc..They seem to have pretty much done what terrorists have done which is harm the US and/or it`s civilians.

Is it any suprise a few years before 911 that Al Gore was put in charge of airline security? Funny how the 911 commission completely skipped that.

Anybody know what the chemicals really were? I originally heard it was binary nerve gas from Iraq by way of Syria, then later I heard it was industrial chemicals. Of course our troops found 55 gal. drums of 2 different chemicals next to empty binary shells. Just industrial chemicals until mixed which then produce nerve gas. According to the libs they weren,t wmd, just percursor chemicals.

True true. I tell you though, what really ticks me off is how Algores little pet project of "improving" airline security in the late 1990`s by accepting bribes and allowing airlines to reduce their security is never ever ever ever ever talked about. I think this is one of the reasons Algore went completely nuts after 911, the guilt must have been incredible.

I was watching a show the other night on flight 93, this is the hijacked plane that crashed into the field on 911. I think it was on the A&E channel, and do you know before the psychos stormed the pilots cabin and killed them, the Captain received a warning from the ground to watch the door because of the possibilty of hijackers? Now WHY the hell couldn`t that pilot lock that door? How the hell could a bunch of Islamic animals armed only with box cutter knives bash their way through a steel door?

Isn`t it amazing that the "improvements" of Algores security of airlines is never talked about?

"..At issue is the presence of a large quantity of sulfuric acid among the tons of chemicals seized by Jordanian authorities. Sulfuric acid can be used as a blister agent, but it more commonly can increase the size of conventional explosions, according to U.S. officials..."

...

"..Jordanian authorities said the attack would have mixed a combination of 71 lethal chemicals, which they said has never been done before, including blistering agents to cause third-degree burns, nerve gas and choking agents. A Jordanian government scientist said the plot had been carefully worked out, with just the right amount of explosives to spread the deadly cloud without diminishing the effects of the chemicals. The blast would not burn up the poisonous chemicals but instead produce a toxic cloud, the scientist said, possibly spreading for a mile, maybe more..."
