Indian defeat sparks suicide (Spurred by Cricket Loss)

Unable to digest India's rout by South Africa, a cricket fan in West Bengal committed suicide by hanging himself, reports said on Sunday.

Tarun Shit, 30, of Gobardhanpur village in West Midnapore district was so saddened by India's defeat on Friday in the one-day match that he ended his life the same night.

Police said the civil engineering student was a diehard cricket fan and used to watch every match on television.

He started feeling impatient as the Indian wickets fell to the South African pace attack. Dejected, he went upstairs around 8 pm.

When his mother went to call him for dinner just after the match ended, she found him hanging from the ceiling.
