Governor Codey isn't as popular as the press claims, but he would have been the most formidible candidiate Jon Corzine could have appointed.
A little bit of good news for the GOP.
Yes, but unfortunately the Democrats in New Jersey could nominate a corpse and he would be elected, unless someone could pin rising auto insurance rates on him.
Senator William Jefferson Clinton.....
hey, don't laugh, these guys would do it...
Yes, they voted for Senator Frank Lautenberg, after a 15 minute election campaign, and he's brain dead at the very least. I think they have to stand behind him and prop him up. I'm not absolutely sure he has a pulse.
But .. as usual .. the democrats cheated to get Lautenberg into the race in the first place.

It's excellent news. He would have coasted to re-election, and I think would have coasted through the primary due to his sky high name ID and his good numbers against Kean.
Now, we get to watch 3 D Congressmen, with lower name ID, throw bombs at each other for 6-8 months, then have to challenge Kean.
Believe me, he was NEVER in the running. Bobby Menendez is Corxine's bagman. He'll get the post.
Heading to Washington DC on his own accord would be akin to self imposed exile from his political base.
His intra party rivals wanted him gone from the state level more than they wanted him to win reelection next year.
Codey well knew this.
Well they were pandering to the dead voters in either State. Keeping the Dead in Hawaii, and adding the Dead in New jersey.
"A little bit of good news for the GOP."
