ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Gov. Bill Richardson is coming clean on his draft record - the baseball draft, that is, admitting that his claim to have been a pick of the Kansas City A's in 1966 was untrue.

For nearly four decades, Richardson, often mentioned as a possible Democratic presidential candidate, has maintained he was drafted by the Kansas City Athletics. . . .

But an investigation by the Albuquerque Journal found no record of Richardson being drafted by the A's, who have since moved to Oakland, or any other team.

Informed by the newspaper of its findings, the governor acknowledged the error in a story in Thursday's editions.

"After being notified of the situation and after researching the matter ... I came to the conclusion that I was not drafted by the A's," he said. . .

"I came to the conclusion that I was not drafted by the A's" . . . Looks like Richardson developed memory "issues" even before his association with Slick.

If he lied about something as silly as this, what else has he lied about? He's toast.

Toast? Not if the Marxist Media has anything to do with it. He's next in line as Hillary's running mate if Obama Osama doesn't want the job.

He was asked to play ball for KC.

Not the A's.

The Knights of Columbus town team.

Was his memory of being drafted by the A's SEARED, SEARED in his memory?

Christmas in Cambodia... Drafted by the A's... Invented the Internet... What's up with these Democrat politicians stretching the truth?

He had to do research to find out if he'd been drafted? What was he unconscious during the time period in question?

You have got that right...if he lies, about things like this..we can't possibly trust him with our country can we???

I find it so ironic that he would lie about this, with the current POTUS, an ex-MLB team owner...whose team played the A's many, many times...I am sure Dubya has gotten a big chuckle over this knucklehead's "mistake"..LOL

This from a man whom Clinton entrusted with our nuclear labs.

Toast? Not if the Marxist Media has anything to do with it.

That would be true in the past, but given the power of New Media, not anymore. Ask what happened to Howell Raines, Gerald Boyd, Dan Rather, Mary Mapes and Eason Jordan--some of the most powerful people in the MSM--when the New Media exposed their lies and deceptions.

Hey Bill Richardson... I'm the real #23 of the NY Yankees... oh wait, the press found me out.

Ok, I'm #23 of the Plano (Texas) Yankees.

"After being notified of the situation and after researching the matter ... I came to the conclusion that I was not drafted by the A's,"

The guy really said this? And isn't it interesting that this story comes out on Thanksgiving, when nobody (except a few of us) pays attention.

Reminds me of the 90's and the Clintons when anything said was anything goes on a Friday night.

Only now it's Hillary and Richardson prep for 2008.

Toast? Not if the Marxist Media has anything to do with it.

Amen! For one thing, why did it take the media nearly 40 years to discover and/or announce this?

"For nearly four decades, Richardson...maintained he was drafted by the Kansas City Athletics...But an investigation by the Albuquerque Journal found no record..."

Which is worse...a youthful lie, or that he is so stupid he couldn't even figure out if he was drafted by a major league team???
