Sen. Obama's Stock Quietly Rises (Obama Gaining Support from Warren Buffett and Oprah)
Los Angeles Times ^ | 11/20/05 | Jeff Zeleny

Posted on 11/24/2005 6:48:20 AM PST by nj26

Warren Buffett sits on the edge of a soft brown sofa, closely watching as Sen. Barack Obama navigates the well-appointed living room. He moves his square glasses closer to his face, unfolds his arms and springs to his feet when the time comes to welcome his guest to Nebraska.

"There he is," Buffett says with a wide grin, pulling Obama toward him with a hearty handshake. "You're the hottest ticket in town today."

The sage of money and finance, America's second-richest man seldom becomes invested in politicians. But he has made an exception for the junior Democratic senator from Illinois, which is precisely why Obama has arrived here on a frosty fall morning, without an overcoat or an entourage.

No television cameras record the moment. No oversize crowds gather. Rather, a mere 16 people — most of whom Obama is meeting for the first time — finish a breakfast of eggs and fresh fruit in the home of Warren Buffett's daughter, Susie Buffett.

"I've got a conviction about him that I don't get very often," Warren Buffett explained later in an interview. "He has as much potential as anyone I've seen to have an important impact over his lifetime on the course that America takes...

"Warren Buffett's $2,000 is no different than anyone else's. There are a lot of people who can give me money," Obama said. "The wonderful thing about Warren Buffett — similar to my relationship with Oprah — it's somebody who doesn't need anything from me."

Look for Clinton/Obama in 2008.

That's what I'm thinking.

"His speeches are full of cliches and hot air, lacking in real substance

Absolutely correct. I watched this walking cliche the other night on one of the cable news outlets and when he was asked about his Party being accused of having a "cut and run" agenda he launched into an answer that was made up of 4-6 word sound bites. some of which were not even relevant to the question. For example, one of the statements he made was concerning our need to develop alternative energy sources. which had nothing to do with finishing the job in Iraq. The guy is part Muslim and I pray he is on the ticket in 2008. Only the libs are stupid enough to believe Americans would put one of these maniacs a heartbeat away from the presidency.

Barak Obama's popularity can be attributed to the left's need to have a "model minority" mascot. All the libs I know who adore Obama, only like him for shallow and trivial reasons... "He's got such a nice smile, and he's so well spoken!"

Their condescension is obvious. I can't even count how many white, liberal women I know who have said that they'd "totally go out with Barak Obama," as if it were some badge of liberal honor... "See, I'm not racist..."

While Obama hasn't made an utter fool of himself yet, he hardly deserves the praise that's heaped on him by those on the left. A wise man once said: "a compliment undeserved is criticism in disguise." Their pandering to Obama is an insult to blacks. It's like when people cheer on a retarded child for accomplishing a mundane task.

IOW, he's the politically correct color and says all the politically correct things in a way that can fool many of the brain-dead the politically correct media has been working on for decades to soften them up for the easy pickings for Soros to buy America out from under them.

YOU SPEAK HERE OF W. BUFFETT, I presume. He is a downer of things American, speculating on the dollar and agitating for higher taxes and keeping the inheritance tax at its high %. His company(Berkshire-Hathaway) bought out one of our best mfg. plants here a couple of years ago, shut it down and moved production to a much less productive plant in Ohio. WE ARE A SMALL AL. COMMUNITY AND IT REALLY PUT A DENT IN OUR ECONOMY.

" Kinda reminds me of the sweet young thing that thinks that the boys all like her for her keen wit and sparkling personality."

Good analogy.

She just thinks all the boys are so nice, and can't understand why the less "popular" girls might see them any other way, when they know that her appeal is the same as Obama's, i.e., they're both sluts in their own way.

Obama Gaining Support from Warren Buffett and Oprah

Don't see how that's working for him. I didn't think much of him to begin with - now I think even less of him.
