That used to be the primary question of Able Danger, but now that we have seen what the DIA has done to the primary whistleblower, the questions have to run deeper than the incompetence of the Omission Commission. The Defense Intelligence Agency stripped Lt. Colonel Tony Shaffer of his clearances over a series of old and bogus charges relating to the use of pens and pads of paper from more than twenty years ago. That effectively ended his career in civilian intelligence work, although it doesn't affect his status in the Army Reserve. The DIA's attack on Shaffer on transparently stupid and baseless points of trivia shows that Able Danger has more than just the bureaucrats of the Commission worried. Why?
Freeh calls for the resumption of public hearings on the Able Danger program and its identification of terrorist cells by Congress as soon as possible. That probably means late January at the earliest if the Judiciary Committee takes the case as it promised earlier. We need to press Arlen Specter and Pat Leahy to fight the DIA and issue subpoenas if necessary. One man has already sacrificed his career for this effort, and that sacrifice should not pass unrewarded.

National Review Online has Able Danger posts today from TKS's Jim Geraghty and The Corner's Andy McCarthy has 2 posts.
Instapundit has noticed too.
And Mac Ranger has his usual unique perspective.
I continue to keep my Able Danger blogroll updated.
I'll believe they are holding hearings
when they hold hearings.
This truth is too important to let the
public view it.....
per the majority of our duly-elected.
It's a big thread to pull, so many creeps are hiding under this rug.
The gore licken wench, reno's beeoch, should be in prison stripes. Klintoon should have been tried for treason {reason's known to all, include secrets to china, etc.} and shot, the beast in jail {fraud, perjury for starters} and then the investigation could begin with those left standing. Won't happen, but it's a warming thought on a cold, snowy day.
It's far more important for the democrats to spread lies about President Bush and his administration lying to the American people about the war in Iraq than to try to get at the truth about Able Danger. Imagine if a Republican had been responsible for Able Danger...you can't convince me that every damn MSMedia reporter would be digging, investigating and castigating every Republican 24/7. Pathetic.
I think the chances of anything coming of this are zilch and none. For whatever reason (conspiracy buffs with tin foil hats think it may be Mena airport, Terry Reed, etc.) the current administration has entered into some sort of agreement with the previous one to never expose them for the traitors they are for ANY of the umpteen treasonous things they have done. The way the current administration shows not just uninterest in any of this, but determination to keep the lid on whatever the truth of 9/11 is, I would say their self-interest is endangered as well.
I agree but that doesn't start the hearings.
I'll say it again. I'll believe they are holding
hearings when they hold hearings.
I wonder if NYC local media exposure would help move the story.
Ding, Ding, Ding.....
We have a winner.....
The truth comes in your post.
