Katrina Demanded The Best In Louisiana, Instead We Got Blanco

In the face of the nation’s worst natural disaster, Louisiana voters needed an extraordinary leader to emerge and provide comfort, vision and answers. Instead in response to Katrina, Louisiana voters got Kathleen Blanco and they are none too happy right now. Recall efforts have now been started and Blanco’s approval rating sits at only 38%. National media outlets have now recognized the problem. This week, Time Magazine ranked Blanco as one of the three worst governors in the nation. This embarrassing designation places Blanco along side the indicted Governor of Ohio, Robert Taft and the Governor of South Carolina Mark Sanford. In response to questions about the ranking, Blanco told reporters "Watch my results."

So, far the results have been less than inspiring. When the state needed a decisive leader, Blanco delivered indecision. When we needed leadership, she delivered caution coupled with confusion. According to Time, "Blanco, a Democrat, was always cautious and deliberative. But those qualities have turned into liabilities."

The voters of Louisiana knew Blanco very well. She had served in the legislature, the Public Service Commission and as Lt. Governor. She was never particularly impressive, yet not crook either. In contrast, her opponent in 2003, Congressman Bobby Jindal was known as an extremely bright and capable individual. During debates, Jindal was impressive, while Blanco’s answers often lacked substance.

It should have been clear to all voters which candidate had the most capabilities to bring to the top position in the state. Yet, Blanco won a close election partly due to prejudice among some voters and partly due to a weak Jindal campaign response to attacks on his healthcare record. Therefore, two years later, when the hurricane hit, we should have known that Kathleen "Committee" Blanco would handle the crisis like she has other situations in her career

...Blanco’s approval rating sits at only 38%.

That's actually not too bad, considering.

Blanco’s approval rating sits at only 38%.

How can this be? After all, she insisted it was all Bush's fault...

She needs to hire some more Clinton folks and remake herself. I would suggest she try to get on some reality show...or possibly start an affair with Brad Pitt. That would help drum up some positive spin.

Its her Cajun name that carried the day for her. LA voters are beginning to recognize its meaningless if you hail from the Bayou country. In a Governor, experience is a must rather than the right ancestry. Enough of affirmative action for Louisianans of French descent!

Perhaps she should marry Michael Jackson.

It would be a marriage of convenience, much like the clintons.

Blanco is just a front for her husband and his cronies who are of the Democrat machine of the Edwin Edwards era. They are old ward politics as usual and as such got all the other crooks, such as levee board members, police juries (ever heard of those?), and other local political entities to turn out the vote for her.

Well that article says it all. I don't see how those other two governors in the worst governor race can hold a candle to her, especially if they have a brain between them.

At the rate these incompetents in Louisiana politics move, this state is unlikely to recover for decades.........and they will still be arguing about whose brother in law gets the contract.

Why not. Lisa Marie did. Aren't they about the same age?

Continuing the truncated article above for a few more lines.......

She tried to find consensus and worked to establish a deliberate path for recovery. The problem with that style was that in a crisis, citizens in turmoil and devastation look to the state’s chief executive for guidance, security, reassurance and quick decision making. Blanco provided none of those qualities during this storm.

Herein lies the key. Citizens - all the way up to government officials - were blindsided by the devastation the storm had left. They were hit hard and had become dazed, confused and looking for direction. It was up to Blanco to rise to the occasion and provide that leadership and guidance during the crisis.

Unfortunalely that type of leadership was not a part of her skill set.

That just shows how many moronic democrats there. Fortunately, most of them have moved out of the state and their effects will be dilluted.

Let's finish the paragraph:

"...and the voters of Louisiana got exactly what they deserved!"

To he** with those bayou low-lifes. If it takes a decade to put the state back together, I submit, let the fault rest where it should.

NOT another dime out of my pocket!!!!

"Yet, Blanco won a close election partly due to prejudice.."

I would surmise the prejudice emanated from more than a few Black democrats, after all, he was a "pubbie" of color and rated an asterisk in the rat play book.

Yeah, I have noticed it's either Bushes or the media's fault for nearly everything that they screw up.
