Slim hope of lasting solution as French riots wane

CLICHY-SOUS-BOIS, France, Nov 14 (Reuters) - Riots seem to be waning in France's suburbs, but local residents hold out little hope of the government solving the root problems behind the unrest such as unemployment, racism and daily violence.

In addition to adopting emergency powers to curb the unrest, the government has announced plans to help people in the dreary and impoverished suburbs, including increasing funding for local organisations and measures to help young people find jobs.

But Henri-Anne Dzerahovic, who has lived in the bleak Clichy-Sous-Bois suburb northeast of Paris for 20 years, says the plans will neither curb crime nor create jobs.

"Nothing will change. It's all just promises," she says.

"I'm moving out of here. I've had enough. Anywhere you go, you're afraid of being attacked. Anytime. Not just in the past two weeks. It's an awful climate."

Dzerahovic, 61, says she sold her flat for one third of what she paid for it 20 years ago because the bad reputation of the rundown suburb had pushed down prices.

More than two weeks of violence were sparked on Oct. 27 by the accidental death of two teenage boys in Clichy-Sous-Bois, a town dominated by high-rise social housing projects where many descendants of African immigrants live.

Since then, youths have rioted across the country, voicing anger about racism, poverty and their failure to find jobs.

And shouting "Allah Akbar!" as they set fire to automobiles, people and buildings.

White Flight? At least, in America, the Blacks don't burn down your churches...

WHO IS THE BUBBLEHEAD WHO WROTE THE ARTICLE???

The writer wants to focus on Frances sicio-economic failure to integrate these fine "YOUTHS".

the only problem is the writer fails to identify, associate, nor contemplate the empathetic support by other youths in belgium, the netherlands and germany. I did not think that ffrances policy failures could result in cars being burnt in germany, belgium etc etc in such a cordinated fashion by their ""YOUTHS".

and also, keep in mind its these fine youths which are tomorrow's leaders. they are our future

There's a lasting solution for France and Europe...dhimmitude.

I visited DU over the weekend to see what the lefty's were saying about the riots in France and all I found was blather about poverty and isolation of those poor, poor Muslims. My prediction is that Islam is going to swallow the left is one big gulp.

Maybe they are just running out of cars within walking distance.

FOllowup: And they are whacking themselves upside the head, saying "I guess we should have kept SOME cars so we could drive around to find NEW cars to torch"

They're running out of cars to burn.

It's surprising that after three weeks the French authorities can't get this car-b-que under control.

Edouard Kemajou, who has been unemployed for 3 years, said he did not expect to find a job through the government plans.

This guy isn't stupid. France's main problem is that you don't need to be a rocket scientist to know everything the French government says is a lie.

"local residents hold out little hope of the government solving the root problems behind the unrest such as unemployment, racism and daily violence."

Reuters has defined the underlying problem of the insurrection in France after a long and thorough investigation, have completed a scientific poll of the local unhappy muslims (w/o mentioning the word 'muslim' of course), and have determined their answers to be accurate and true. The French themselves are to blame for the fiery uprising in their country. At least that's what Reuters wants you to believe.

I've long known that the msm have taken sides with the liberal agenda and report everything through their biased filter, but it's surprising just how much they really hate Western civilization and will sympathize with anyone who attacks it. Even when the attack is against their champions of liberalism, the French, they simply look for the evilest side and ally themselves with it.

I think what the msm fear the most is that the French might unite against Islam and this unity will take them back to their Christian roots. So their's is actually an anti-Christian agenda more than anything else. Just my humble opinion.

Tell me that this is not the Muzzie plan!
One neighborhood at a time.
For about 8,000 of these "movers", it will have to be "on foot".
