Anyone who thinks that they are going to get a $2.00 hotel room needs their intelligence insulted. Maybe so, but from a business standpoint, Expedia will wish they'd absorbed the loss. Instead, they cost their company goodwill far in excess of the difference between the advertised and correct hotel rates.
Hilton loaded the rates into Expedia's database. It was Hilton's error. I doubt that anyone from Expedia even saw the rates until the kerfuffle. I doubt that anyone is going to side with a Toronto marketing consultant over Hilton in an obvious error like this. If they do it is no big loss. Hilton was more than accomodating.
If anyone does blame Expedia I hope that they are driven to Priceline. Priceline is as close to theft as legalized gambling.
