ROCHESTER, NY (2005-11-09) New Clean Car standards are being adopted in New York today. That's in an effort to reduce the amount of Global Warming pollutants that come from cars sold in the state.
The Natural Resource Defense Council in New York is commending the Pataki administration for implementing the standards that were first adopted by California in 2004.
Theo Spencer is the Senior Project Manager at the NRDC's Climate Center. He says the new standards require better pollution control on new vehicles. They target emmissions of pollutants that are said to contribute greatly to global warming: carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide and air conditioning refrigerant.
New York will be the third state to adopt the standards and the largest vehicle market in the East to do so. Vermont adopted the rules last week. Several more state are expected to follow.
And if Nitrous Oxide is contributing, it's time to ban dentistry, whipped cream and those damn hippy festvals..
Just another reason not to return to the state of my birth.
There thats better.
Don't you understand....it's good for the automobile repair and inspection business. Also good for the car parts scalpers and dealers. Everyone makes more money from the poor sap who has to pay for all of the pollution inspections, repair parts and compliance parts and requirements.
It's all about money, not the environment.
Why should I listen to stuff being pushed by thoose who don't knoiw the difference between Nitrous Oxide and Oxides of Nitrogen.
Ah, jeez. I hope Maryland isn't stoooopid enough to follow suit.
