A fiery Kerry works the crowd -Democrat says GOP twists religion

The senator's dynamic speech yesterday cut a sharp contrast to the image that dogged him during the 2004 presidential race.

MANCHESTER - At times fiery and impassioned, always at ease, Sen. John Kerry attacked Republican leaders yesterday for not practicing the religion they preach.

Appearing at a rally for Manchester Mayor Bob Baines, Kerry cut a sharp contrast to the image that dogged him during his failed 2004 bid for the presidency. He made timely jokes about the Patriots and Red Sox - this time, he got Manny Ramirez's name right - and his 15-minute speech was direct, not long-winded. He laced his remarks with concise jabs at the Bush administration.

Kerry raised many of his usual themes - that Democrats fight for better schools, greater access to health care and the like - but he saved his toughest rhetoric for what he perceives as Republican "fakery"and religious hypocrisy.

"It really comes down to the kind of values you have, and how you take those values into public office and live them out. Not talk about them, folks -live them out," said Kerry, who lost last year's election, in part, because of President Bush's sway with evangelical Christian voters.

"As a Christian, as a Catholic, I think hard about those responsibilities that are moral and how you translate them into public life. And I'm tired of watching a whole bunch of people who talk about that faith not go out and live it."

Citing the New Testament, Kerry said, "There is not anywhere in the three-year ministry of Jesus Christ, any, that remotely suggests - not one miracle, not one parable, not one utterance -that says you ought to cut children's health care or take money from the poorest people in our nation and give it to the wealthiest. Nowhere."

You are only a Catholic, John, because no one in your diocese has had the guts to excommunicate you.

Next time Kerry is in a thunderstorm, please, someone hand him a two iron and ask him to start preaching again.

No, you are still a world-class putz, POS, and traitor. There is nothing dynamic about this revolting slug.

"It really comes down to the kind of values you have, and how you take those values into public office," said Kerry, However, since I have NO values at all, I am the perfect Washington political slimeball.

". . . take money from the poorest people in our nation and give it to the wealthiest."

I give credit to whomever said it first:

What money? What can be taken from the poorest if they are so poor and have nothing to begin with? And why would the wealthiest want whatever it is they may have?

Hey John, when you were reading the red words in the Bible did you miss the verse Where Jesus spaketh: "Let he who is sinless cast the stone" ??

That's the libs favorite verse unless it applies to them..

LOL!! Kerry is now trying his hand as an exegete, since nothing else works.

Even here, he fails. Jesus' ministry was not about temporal concerns, at all. Instead, He spoke of the Kingdom of God, which was not of this world.

Who is taking money from the poor and giving it to the wealthiest?

Is he suggesting Jesus talked about "children's health care"? Oh, I get it: he's redefining himself: religious faith = national socialized healthcare.

He's been practicing! I'll bet he still looks like a dorkus throwing a football and a baseball.

Ok John-boy, (this is sooooo easy, BTW;) I doubt that Jesus would have approved of amassing a fortune by persecuting those who labor mightily to follow His example of healing the sick, as your stinking pretty-boy running mate has done, and the moral obligation to aid the poor is an INDIVIDUAL one, NOT the responsibility of the government!

Now, anyone care to comment on the REST of the article?;)

this time, he got Manny Ramirez's name right

How can Manny Ramirez be Kerry's favorite. Ramirez said he wants out of Boston.

Background: in 2004, Kerry went to a red sox game and said his favorite player was "Manny Ortez". There is no Manny Ortez. The closest two are David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez.
