JERUSALEM A 12-year-old Palestinian boy who was shot by Israeli troops while holding a toy gun last week died of his wounds yesterday, relatives and medical officials said.
Israeli forces mistook the boy for an armed militant during an exchange of gunfire Thursday in the West Bank town of Jenin and later discovered he was carrying a toy M-16 rifle, military officials said. The boy, Ahmed Ismail Khatib, was taken to an Israeli hospital with wounds to his head and stomach.
Dr. Tzvi Ben-Yishai, a spokesman for Rambam Hospital in the Israeli city of Haifa, said the boy died yesterday and his parents decided to donate his organs "to bring hearts closer and bring peace closer."
The boy's relatives said they realized the organs probably would save Jewish lives, and they hoped their decision would advance the cause of peace.
Brave parents. If all Palestinians thought like them there would be peace in 5 minutes.
Vice Versa it wouldn't work...

Awww... really? Darn the luck. Now, if you'll excuse me while I go see if I can scare that security guard at the bank...

"Brave parents"
Where were they when he was out on the street during an active shooting situation?
Knowing the situation, why would the parents allow their son to play with a toy M-16? Chances are he would have been recruited by Hamas and later would have had a real M-16.
> ... later discovered he was carrying a toy M-16 rifle ...
For decades in the US, makers have put visible features
on toy guns to make them obviously toys, such as blaze
orange muzzles.
It would be interesting to know if this toy was a
commercial item, or home made, and if a trade toy,
whether the visual feature(s) had been tampered with.
In any case, we have a couple of shootings a year like
this in the US, and the cops here aren't under nearly
as much stress as the IDF.
A 12-year-old Arab boy who was shot by Israeli troops while holding a toy gun last week died of his wounds yesterday, relatives and medical officials said.
There is no such thing as a "Palestinian" because no nation called "Palestine" exists on the face of the Earth. I will continue to remind everyone of this.
Perhaps toy guns aren't such a good idea in a war zone.
Tragic but stupid.
-Israeli forces mistook the boy for an armed militant-
Easy enough to do, so it's a shame for the boy. In light of what his parents did in the end I can't be completely convinced that boys playing with toy guns is always evil. All boys (well, except the ones forced by lefty moms to play with Barbies instead) like to play with guns.
I believe the M16 is mainly an Israeli arm.
Palis most always are armed w/ AKs
Very true.It just goes to show that you'll find good and bad people among every racial/religious/ethnic group.
"I believe the M16 is mainly an Israeli arm."
Go watch some footage of Hamas rallies.
And where would I do that ?
Google Hamas and M16.
A 12 year old palestinian boy is usually an active participant in the palestinian murder parties - his real gun was most likely removed and replaced with a toy one for the communist reporters and photogs to blare worldwide -- and ignorant Americans can lament to poor demise of this "innocent boy".
In the majority of the world, 12 years old is the age of ADULTHOOD where they are given adult duties which included murdering Americans!
