I don't think Parliament would tolerate that. The British would rather have a Catholic on the throne than a Muslim. Personally, I think the article is only wishful thinking however; Charles is a nice man, but not intellectually sharp and is guilty most of fuzzy thinking.

He has voiced private concerns over America ’s "confrontational" approach to Muslim countries and its failure to appreciate Islam's strengths. He thinks United States has been too intolerant of the religion.

Mama would crack Charles' over the head if he converted to Islam. That said, his arrival with the express purpose of scolding Bush over his 'confrontational' policies toward Islam (hello, 9/11 and 7/11), is irrational and way beyond insulting. And a few minutes' stop at the site of 9/11 with bowed head and better half resplendent in raspberry velvet doesn't cut it. God help Britain.
