The "anti-war" movement: "It was essential to our strategy [to defeat the U.S.]."

"How North Vietnam Won The War," Wall Street Journal August 3, 1995

An interview with Bui Tin, a former colonel in the North Vietnamese army, conducted by Stephen Young, a Minnesota attorney and human-rights activist. Bui Tin served on the general staff of North Vietnam's army He later immigrated to Paris after becoming disillusioned with the fruits of Vietnamese communists.

"Q: Was the American antiwar movement important to Hanoi's victory?

"A: It was essential to our strategy. . . ."

[End of excerpt]

There's a difference between free-speech opposition to your government's policy and anti-government antics that help the enemy.

I believe that after the war the NV admitted that they were ready to talk serious peace by 1969 (after Tet) but they saw the "anti-war" movement growing in the U.S.

"Anti-war" equals more deaths.

Give victory a chance.

Kudos to you. I bugged out of work early as they were planning to close most of the streets and on/off ramps to the 405 freeway in West Los Angeles. The wild eyed leftists roaming the halls at work were so excited about the protest monkeys they were leaving snail trails.

"This war is now resonating with youth with the military recruiting in their high schools and they know they are not far away from danger," she said.

Translation: It all -ALL of this rubbish- comes down to personal cowardice.

What if "progressives" held a protest and no one showed up?

In Cleveland, the commies and kids cutting school crowd were smaller than the number of police and newsies working the event. LOL!

It's my firm belief that they have the same maturity as my 5 year old daughter and are trying to win the argument by saying "I know you are but what am I".

So when Clinton was convicted of lying under oath we sealed the fate of "Bush the Liar" . If the next democrat president is actually CONVICTED of rape or theft or some other such nonsense, then the republican that follows him (or her) will be XXXXX the rapist or XXXXX the thief...etc.

I'm going to make a buck on the whole thing and start printing T-shirts now. Can anyone figure out how to make the idea 'Rice is a thief' rhyme with "Hey Hey ... Ho Ho...?"

"In New York, students walked out of schools and colleges and joined other supporters as thousands rallied in Union Square before marching nearly 2 miles to Times Square along avenues lined with police on motorbikes."

Where is the , "joined by the entire reporting and editorial staff of the NYTimes newspaper", huh?

"The Bush regime is out to remake the world with its policies," said organizer Sunsara Taylor. "From the war in Iraq to environmental policies to the remaking of the Supreme Court ... we are staring down the barrel of fascism in this country."

You guys gotta get new material. The fascist boogie is a bit long in the tooth.

Please...PLEASE...tell me that this was what Pied Piper Pitt was talking about sometime ago. That this IS/WAS that "something big will happen on November 2nd" he mentioned on DU.

Please...make me giddy...please.

You know, I think you're right. I recall Something Big was going to happen in early November. In fact, I think it was supposed to be November 2, the anniversary of BushCo's most recent stealing of an election. So that means yesterday was . . . Still Another Day When Everything Finally Changed!

Cue Lucy with the football.

I left work early yesterday also, since we had received the "Traffic Advisory" earlier in the day.

Later, I watched local news. CBS2 reported "hundreds" of marchers and showed footage of some rag-tag protestors. ABC7 gave a much more sympathetic report. Melissa McBride sounded like she was reading the WCW press release verbatim; they interviewed a few idiots, reported 500 in attendance at the Federal Building and that was it.

Anyway, the event was obviously a total failure. In fact, it was encouraging to see that there was more law enforcement out in the streets than protestors.
