I have no clue why this is racially or ethnically insensitive. Load of crap IMO.
As an Italian-American Conservative American Attorney, I am not offended by the name and love this pick.
On the face of it, it isn't truly insensitive.
However, as was noted, if this had been Rush or some other conservative pundit coming up with a similar name for a Democratic nominee, the MSM and the usual suspects (Chuckie Schumer, Teddy "Hic" Kennedy, "Dirty" Harry Reid and others) would be having a royal hissy fit over it.
Yet ANOTHER case of "your left-wing hypocracy in action".
If its a play on Scalia and Alito, where is the racism?
Good Lord Drudge....
Good question. I'm half Italian (my father was born in Italy), and I don't see any insult here. Besides, "Italian" is not a race. Italians are Europeans; Caucasians.
The pairing of two Italians might be seen as a means of subjecting them both to ridicule.
"Meanwhile, the Democratic National Committee sent out talking points this morning titled: Judge Scalito Has Long History Of States Rights,"
I guess the democrats have given up on pretending to stand for states rights for now.
I'm going to turn off the television for the rest of the day.
Between MSM (including Fox) and the democrats --- I am already tired of hearing about the liklihood of the nuclear option, the stalling tactics Schumer is putting into place and the cries about this seat belonnging to a "swing vote."
Utter nonsense. What a disgraceful shame that the nominee cannot enjoy this day sans the bitching and complaining of the partisan democrats and their ever obliging MSM.
How so? I guess Im naive. How is being italian and being compared to Justice Scalia ridicule and insensitive racially?
So your father was born in Italy...hmmm, that must mean he is a real-life Tony Soprano... ;-)
Just by combining the two as one entity, "Scalito," and thereby detracting from their individuality, it might convey a subtle lack of respect. A lot of ethnic stereotyping works this way. I agree that the substance isn't derogatory.
I love this pick, too.
