I have been reading Ann Coulters Treason. World Government has been the goal of many subversive, vengeful, destuctive and powerful men and has enlisted some countrymen to do it. The Illuminati, the Bolshevists, the Fellow Travelers, the Internationale, the Communists , etal, are not figures of our imagination but real forces of history.
The unwashed, thanks to new mass communication has access to history.
There is an "enemy within", a "destructive principle", a force which subverts and perverts "the good". It is as old as the days of Christ.
Today is "Reformation Day" in the Christian world where I exist...interesting how I felt during Church that we are going through another REFORMATION, both religious and political....your comment made me think of that.

Ah, the Bavarian Illuminati (1776-1785), started in a culture that loved lengthy conspiracy stories as much as do intrigued readers in currently Islamist areas of the Middle East,... It's an interesting topic for those who don't get lost in the more prevalent and widely various kooky conspiracy chronicles. The Enlightenment, associated paganism and romanticism spawned quite a few "secret societies" for the idle rich--especially fiction writers and other artists.
