Well we'll see... I'd sleep alot easier if I got a definitive statement that Fritz was closing up shop..

BTW...what does it mean for Rove to still be "under scrutiny" now?

That Fitzgerald came up empty on the original charge was a victory for everyone.

============

Office of the Deputy Attorney General Washington, D.C. 20530

The Honorable Patrick J. Fitzgerald United States Attorney 219 S. Dearborn Street Chicago, IL 60604

Dear Patrick,

By the authority vested in the Attorney General by law, including 28 U. S .C. §§ 509, 510, and 515, and in my capacity as Acting Attorney General pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 508, I hereby delegate to you all the authority of the Attorney General with respect to the Department's investigation into the alleged unauthorized disclosure of a CIA employee's identity, and I direct you to exercise that authority as Special Counsel independent of the supervision or control of any officer of the Department.

Rove will be indicted later and both will be convicted by a D.C. jury who will then feel they got revenge for Bush blowing up the NO levees.

Both will be reversed upon appeal, but the rat point will be made.

Newsmax had another story about how this investigation lags behind the Whitewater one.

Fitz is a joke compared to the stuff Starr found.

Hear, hear. The libs were never after Libby (who?). From day one, they were after Rove. This is all about revenge for The Architect keeping them out of the White House. Because of The Architect's brilliance, the libs are in my opinion 18 months from seeing Roe v. Wade overturned. That's why they were literally crying in the streets at the end of election night, and it's why they're so rabid to go after Rove.

I love watching them crow now, because they're fooling themselves if they think this does anything for them. If anything, it only galvanizes our base to make sure to pay them back in future elections, and it won't do anything on that day in, say, early 2007 when the SCOTUS decision comes down that overturns Roe v. Wade.

"We congratulate Orlando for the kill and acknowledge that we are targeted. Though we are dead, our torpedoes were fired before your transmission...If we fired them right, any hits should be visible in your scope. They hit, we still win. Har, har."

I know that there are those in this forum who think that the sun rises on Patrick Fitzgerald, but there were a couple of things about his press conference I found troubling. First of all, he clearly revealed that he had been following press accounts of the grand jury proceedings and the actions by his office ("one day I'm a Republican stooge, the next day I'm a partisan Democrat"), something one would not expect from someone the MSM describes as "apolitical...straight arrow". Certainly if we take him at his word, he's not the "Republican" MSM and other sources have said he is.

Secondly, it is obvious that he has been stung by the criticism by both Republicans and by MSM organs like the Washington Post, that he is being over-zealous in chasing after Libby (and possibly others) for matters other than the crime mentioned in the original referral. His attempted baseball analogy was as lame as it was obtuse. He might have done better to mention the fact that Al Capone was finally brought down for tax evasion, not for the murder, extortion or bootlegging that were his most serious crimes. Even a better analogy, however, cannot obscure the fact that Fitzgerald knows that given the history of leaking in Washington, he could have cut Libby a break, and that his decision to prosecute him was more related to enhancing the Fitzgerald image than in punishing the "damage" done by Libby's alleged crimes.

Let's hope that the big fish (Rove) and his bigger fish buddy (Bush) learn something from this, like don't try to be the bigger fish and make friends with the snakes (democrats) and don't let your arses hanging in the breeze by taking their buddies in the press lightly!

I have to say it; "God, I think this President is totally naive about the people he is dealing with". I sincerely hope he wakes up and smells the coffee before some real bad $hit happens to him by trying to "reach across the isle".

And the MSM big bad wolf huffed and puffed (loudly I might add) but couldn't blow down the brick house. I think this event adds to the common perception that the press is full of itself, loves to hear its own voices, and is particularly biased against this President.

Libby took the spear. This is the end of it unless the Democrats have Congressional hearings. The chance of this on a scale of 1 to 10 is -10. Fitzgerald will be home for Christmas.

I don't know what's up here. For one thing Fitz needs to be sent on his merry way. This investigation SHOULD HAVE ENDED, has it? It's hard to tell with all the speculation going on...I mean is this dam thing still going on?

Are we hearing that Fitz was out to indict Rove...then he went to Rove's attorney and was given classified info regarding what was actually up with the CIA...so Fitz backed off...even though it's obvious from the news conference...he's biting at the bit to nail Rove...extremely troubling...Someone needs to can Fitz...he's rogue and is expanding something that's shouldn't be expanded...and he's NOT a friend to this administration.

The crime here has to do with the Wilsons'... why is nothing being done with this???

Libby should demand an immediate trial, plead guilty and attest that he is the sole source in the White House of the information, and let Bush pardon him. That will get it over with quick and thwart the liberals. Everyone who counts will know that he is not guilty of a crime and he would be a hero in my book.

I have a feeling that the swirling buzz of rumors around
Rove this week was Fitzy pressuring for a plea bargain,
and Rove calling his bluff. Either Fitzy knew he had nothing,
or thought he did, but couldn't get the jurors to swallow it.
