Vice President Dick Cheney said on Friday that his indicted ex-chief of staff, Lewis Libby, was presumed innocent until a contrary finding is made by a jury.
In a written statement, Cheney said he had accepted Libby's resignation with deep regret.
"In our system of government an accused person is presumed innocent until a contrary finding is made by a jury after an opportunity to answer the charges and a full airing of the facts. Mr. Libby is entitled to that opportunity," he said.

Can't wait for the trial where Scooter's lawyer's will put Marreen Dowd on the stand to give her opinion of Judith Miller journalistic skills.

Then he should have refused the resignation.

The Libby trial will turn into the Matt Cooper trial.
Libby's memory of a conversation six months old versus Cooper's memory a year and a half later.
Cooper. He testified he did not talk about welfare reform with Rove. Rove said he did as a precursor to talking about Wilson, and has notes to show it. Back home Cooper looked at his notes and yes, he was researching welfare reform at the time, but doesn't remember telling Rove.
Rove made that up from whole cloth? Cooper's memory about Libby is a key part of this prosecution?
This could turn out funny.

I am NOT impressed with Fitz.....
Reporter is asking about the charge of leaking...what happened to that?
To: West Coast Conservative
True. But it gives me the hebejebies. Sounds just like what the Clinton defenders were saying a few years ago.
Wondering if Plume got in trouble for hiring her husband to attack the President?

After hearing the Fitzgerald summary of the indictment in his press conference, I would have to say there is a very good chance that Libby walks away without a conviction. Given that, I see no reason to treat him differently than either Bill Clinton (lied to Starr's grand jury) or Hillary Clintion (lied to Ray's grand jury), who were not indicted.

Correct. If one is a conservative, the MSM/Dems assume you're guilty of something. Lack of compassion at the very least.

Anyone want to draw straws to see who beats up this pansy? Are you joking? He is perfect, just like Jimmy Carter and Howard "Screamin" Dean. Let 'em talk, and talk and talk. Every time they open their mouth the GOP picks up 1000 voters.

Fitz danced around the "covert" agent thing by declaring her employment at the CIA was classified. That doesn't tell us much since the names of CIA janitors are confidential.
Where's the REAL crime?

It will be interesting to see how seriously the alleged crimes and evidence are taken by 12 ordinary citizens as opposed to how they were considered by 100 Senators.
