BISMARCK, N.D. - A car crashed through the glass wall of a waiting room at Medcenter One hospital, sending six women, including the 87-year-old driver, to the emergency room.

"It was total chaos," Bismarck Police Officer Dave Horner said. "There were so many people there that we didn't know who had been hit and injured, or who the witnesses were."

He said it was fortunate that so many doctors and nurses were nearby.

Horner said the car driven by Ruth Otto, of Mandan, "sideswiped the building, then sideswiped a car and then went into the building."

It happened at about 11 a.m., Monday, the officer said. Otto told police that she had an appointment at the hospital.

Was she on time?

Someone must have switched around the gas and brake pedals again. Those gremlins are always doing that to old people.

"Because she's elderly, I don't foresee any charges," Horner said.

Does this seem right to anyone?

Was she driving an SUV? If she was then it's not her fault.

Well, if you are going to get clobbered by a car in a waiting room, a hospital is a good place to do it.

Didnt this sort of plot happen on ER, and St Elsewhere, and every other hospital show on? On the left-slanted St Elsewhere, a man who was desperate to get help for his stricken wife drove right through the wall of the emergency room. Rather than the staff being outraged that he could have killed countless people, they just gave him a slap on the wrist.

This must be a feelgood for Grand Forks, which has the worst drivers I've ever seen (my car hit 5 times in 8 months, three times while it was parked).

- I've sure gotten old. I've had two bypass surgeries, a hip replacement, new knees Fought prostate cancer and diabetes.

I'm half blind, can't hear anything quieter than a jet engine, take 40 different medications that make me dizzy, winded, and subject to blackouts. Have bouts with dementia. Have poor circulation; hardly feel my hands and feet anymore. Can't remember if I'm 85 or 92. Have lost all my friends.

But, thank God, I still have my driver's license. Sorry about your car and damages to the hospital. Look at my car. It's a mess now.

Hey! In Socal many folks drive by Braille. I couldn't figure out why until I saw the Braille Institute ad right on the 101 freeway! Must be part of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Was she driving an SUV?

Since the high gas prices, people have sold their SUV's so not it is cars fault.

In Florida, you're frequently driving in the fast lane behind slow-moving cars with no drivers.
