Mexico City -- Arturo Montiel, a former governor and one of the leading contenders in next year's presidential race in Mexico, announced Thursday that he is withdrawing his candidacy in the face of corruption allegations against his family.
The decision appeared to leave the nomination of the powerful Institutional Revolutionary Party, or PRI, to Montiel's bitter rival, Roberto Madrazo, an ex-governor of the state of Tabasco.

investigators were trying to determine the source of $3.2 million in bank deposits in three accounts belonging to Montiel's wife and two sons. No small time crook!

" withdrawing his candidacy in the face of
corruption allegations against his family. "
Thats funny. It never seems to stop American politicians.
Unless the allegations are a form extortion from Vinny Fox.

politicians are enriching themselves at the publics expense."
Same here. Looks like we have a lot in common with Mexico.
Out of control corruption at all levels of government and a sellout president who either looks the other way or helps in the whitewash.

I am not a crook. That money is from remittances sent to me by my cousin, I tell you! My family is guarding the money for him until his return from the U.S. You gringos, you are so quick to judge.

I hear there's corruption in Louisiana too.
