Too bad the one in New Orleans got cancelled that would have been fun to watch the gay crowd and the ghetto crowd go at it. It also would have hurt Spike Lee and Jesse Jackson's race claim.

"America has been moving away from God," said Alabama Sen. Hank Erwin, R-Montevallo. "The Lord is sending appeals to us. As harsh as it may sound, those hurricanes do say that God is real, and we have to realize sin has consequences."
Wouldn't surprise me if this Senator is right ... look at what this thread is on ... homos who can't party and be party hearty deviates.

"The Lord is sending appeals to us. As harsh as it may sound, those hurricanes do say that God is real, and we have to realize sin has consequences." Are all hurricanes (and other natural disasters) a sign that God is "sending appeals to us" and that "sin has consequences," or only those that strike select areas at select times?

Perhaps ... .
Let me ask you this:
How do YOU know they are NOT?
How do you like the frequency and intensity of these disasters?
The tsunami in December, the earthquake where over 50 thousand people are dead? Forget what the death count was for the tsunami. Maybe you can help me out with that. Then there's Katrina and Rita and now Wilma.
Think something might be going on ... ?
Hmmmmm?

How do you like the frequency and intensity of these disasters? Just curious, is there Scripture that describes the increase in frequency/magnitude of natural disasters in/near the "end times?" If so, I'd like to check it out.

I believe that the consequences of our sin are far more personal than the weather. Then again, God's ways are not my ways, for I would only send calamitous zots on the unjust and pesky trolls.
I guess I have to own up to being unqualified for the post of saying 'yes, alll weather related events are the judgemnt of God, or No you silly git, it's got nothing to do with the will of god"

I can't definitively say that is the reason He is allowing this to happen but I really do wonder about it ... He's ALWAYS in control ... .

You say "allow." Do you think that for God, there is a difference between allow and cause?

I hear they don't get hurricanes in Iceland.

I've been thinking a lot about that passage lately, because I never really put together until a few months ago why Jesus used the phrase "birth pains." Birth pains increase in magnitude over time and also happen closer and closer together.
3As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. "Tell us," they said, "when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?"
4Jesus answered: "Watch out that no one deceives you. 5For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many. 6You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8All these are the beginning of birth pains.

This explains why FL is being hit by so many natural events. Maybe there's some intelligent design at work there.

Nah. The place for people to get naked in public is in southern latitudes, usually on seacoasts, vacation spots, and it happens to be a worse than usual hurricane season,
which happens in southern latitudes, etc.
But it is a sad sign of civilization abdicating its responsibilities.
