WASHINGTON (AP) New Jersey Sen. Jon Corzine, a former Wall Street executive with a portfolio worth $261 million, has been giving some of his money to black churches, raising questions about whether it's generosity or politics.
The Democrat, who is in a tight race for governor, donated or loaned more than $2.5 million last year to black churches. He has received the endorsement of more than two dozen black ministers.

What, the Don of New Jersey --- questionable activity?? Unthinkable.
If you can't buy 'em,
At least rent them for a while. Like til election time.
Ping
This issue is being raised on a demorat? Unbelievable. Who would have ever thought.
Corzine numbers have deen dropping like McGreeveys pants here in NJ.
If this gets big...I think he's done.
As if any of this matters to the voting lemmings of New Jersey. Corzine will win easily. He could be caught murdering someone in front of 1000 eyewitnesses and it wouldn't matter...either they'd vote for him anyway or they'll vote for the last-minute Dem replacement al la Lautenberg.
I fail to see the significance.
Is it his own personal wealth that he is sharing?
If so, so what?
Unless there is something improper with giving to black churches then I can't see a problem.
They are pretty sizable donations/loans. It may not be illegal but it appears sleezy. And I liked the title so much I thought it would be fun to give it a bit of exposure. Note the following quote from the article:
"Blatant quid pro quo-ism," said Democrat Walter Fields, Jr., former political director of New Jersey's NAACP. "We have always had wealthy candidates running for office. What we have never had is that individual wealth being used in such a direct way, and somehow we're supposed to look the other way."
New Jersey -- Democrat -- politician -- questionable donations -- nothing to see here -- move along............
It's a very tight race. A few more of these types of stories could take him down another notch or two.
your probably right . so what .charges like this fly back and forth. some connect some do not.
"and somehow we're supposed to look the other way."
Well it would be a 'first' for Democrats if they didn't!
" It's a very tight race. A few more of these types of stories could take him down another notch or two."
Well, from that standpoint, I can see your point.
I just thought that it was interesting that this guy was being ostrizised for spending his own money on these churches.
Especially considering the outcry when Bill Bennett?(I think) spent some $10 million of his own money on gambling, which, he had every right to do.

Oh yuck! your comments gave an unnecessary visual!
>>>As if any of this matters to the voting lemmings of New Jersey.
If there really was an issue of NJ voting lemmings, then why does our dead vote?
