Bill would deny U.S. citizenship to children of illegal immigrants
About that time the PA went off with LOUD Mexican song from an adjacent room. Several attendees jumped up heading to an adjacent room. It stopped. Same thing happened 3 or 4 times during the talk.
He spoke of the need for a Constitutional Amendment to the 14th and said it was in the works.
He also spoke of the sorry visa situation. He said he'd received a call from a relative in NC, I believe, seeking his intervention on behalf of one of his employees. It turns out the employee left the country and couldn't get back in the states because he'd originally arrived here on a "skilled visa," and the relative was employing him in his car wash. Too bad ... couldn't help him out.
I was WAY okay with my Rep until he voted for CAFTA. I thought that was exceptionally sorry and emailed him to that effect.
At one point in the meeting, a woman gets up and announces how sick she is of "immigrants" being blamed for everything. She then announces she is a Native American. Rohrabacher tells her if she's a Native American he doesn't understand her concern because she has nothing to worry about. After that, she stormed out of the meeting.
Much has been written here and elsewhere about the 14th Amendment. I believe it is fairly evident that this outcome is not what its framers intended.
