Wonderful post, takes the old standby 'if you are not liberal when you are young, you are missing a heart; and if you are not conservative when fully grown, you are missing a mind' and details it, beautifully.

Thank You. Although Ayn Rand doesn't share my Christian beliefs, she taught me something very important about socialism. The chief argument against isn't that it doesn't work - the problem is that it is immoral. And so contrary to what the Republic stands for. The protection of the individual against ALL tyranny - including the tyranny of the masses who under socialism would choose to confiscate the fruits of the individual's labour for themselves.

She has never cried over an election, marched naked in Berkeley, thrown a pie, or tackled a liberal heckler. Yet. Pictures here from Michelle's visit to Berkeley last year:

Yes, I'm sure it was Churchill. "If you were not a liberal when you were young, I would think you had no heart. If you did not grow conservative as you grew older, I would think you had no brain." I think that's how it went.

It was Winston Churchill. This is the actual quote:
To be conservative at 20 is heartless and to be a liberal at 60 is plain idiocy. http://www.quotationspage.com
He also said this:
Never, never, never believe any war will be smooth and easy, or that anyone who embarks on the strange voyage can measure the tides and hurricanes he will encounter. The statesman who yields to war fever must realize that once the signal is given, he is no longer the master of policy but the slave of unforeseeable and uncontrollable events.

She's been read out of the conservative movement by the Bushbots.Oh, please. What a foolish post..

Re-read my post, and go to the link. Churchill's actual quote does differ from what's usually attributed to him, but the quote I posted he did make.
To: txroadhawg
That quote is from winston Churchill and he paraphrased it a number of ways. Here is one of the originals:
"When you're 20, you're a liberal with a heart, but when you're forty you're a conservative with a brain."
More Churchill quotes can be found on this thread:
