Having lived amongst muslims in the cities and small villages in Malaysia and Indonesia - I disagree. They are trained from an early age not to speak out or say anything negative about a muslim. Punishment ranges from public humiliation to death. Muslims are not free even if they live in a free country. Their culture dominates their day to day behavior. The threat of being ostracised from day to day activities within the community is a strong deterrent.
That said I think their religion is nuts - except for controlling ignorant masses.

Good article. Sadly, I fear it is only partially true.
"If only" the vast majority of Muslims were really the peaceful souls the author postulates. "If only" these postulated peaceful Muslims are silent only because they are confused by the "useful idiots" in the west who enable the terrorists in their midst.
The reality is that regardless of the undeniable presence of useful idiots in the West, it is the responsibility of Muslims themselves to control their own members, and cleanse their own ideology. They have failed spectacularly to do so.
I believe we can solve the problem "if only" more Muslims find the courage to stand up to the terrorists in their midst. Unfortunately, few Muslims outside of Iraq show even the courage needed to publicly condemn the terrorists in their midst, much less the courage to actively confront them.
Ironically, Iraq may well be "moderate" Muslims last, best chance to avoid a global war between Islam and everyone else. In Iraq, at least, many Muslims have found the courage to take up arms against the barbarians in their midst. Perhaps their example will embolden their silent brethren in other lands.
If Muslims themselves cannot find the courage to stop the extremists in their midst, then we are headed inexorably for the first global religious war. It will be terrible, but Islam will lose that war. And Islam will be extirminated when it is over.

I won't miss them if it happens.
Regardless of what happens in Iraq that religious war is inevitable. The koran commands them to fight us. Even if all the radical mohammedans were to drop dead right now, in twenty years we'd be facing the same issues as today. Why? Because islam itself is terrorism.
So the war on terror will end with the death of the last islamic. You can't trust the ones who claim to convert as islam commands them to lie to gain advantage. It truly is a demonic death cult
