New caller upset that she served in city council and a fellow with her said he never knew ahead of time how she would react (sounds like a good judge to me).

Caller now asking about constitution, says they should reject those who are not "proper nominees".

Medved: President Bush knows this nominee better than any previous president knew any nominee (except somebody I missed the name, but he said it turn out well)

That's very thoughtful of you. I listen to Medved whenever I can. He's the best talk show host on the air, without question.

The notion that Harriet Miers-who can't even string together two coherent, cogently argued sentences-has the right to critique the prose style of someone like David Frum is laughable on its face.

POTUS knows her. Professionallyy and personally.

Of course she's eddyKted at SMU and she's a SOUTHERN Christian woman.
Oh the horrors.

Medved told Frum he will try to persuade him after this break.

Sorry for the late ping Medved fans. I had to try to piece the Medved ping list back together. I apologize to anyone that I may have left off.

This is a very low volume ping list. If anyone wants on or off, please send me an FR mail. Thanks.

The word "desperate" gets thrown around too much... but that response really does sound desperate. It bears no relation to what I said.

Are you David Frum?

Dan

Maybe that's what Frum resents. The fact that he, who fancies himself considerably, would have to listen or take any criticism from some frump like Harriett Miers.

IOW, this could very well be nothing but petty bitterness on the part of Frum.

I don't think he shows a "penchant" for lying. To defend him, Frum did say he couldn't give the actual "misleading reason" for withdraw because he was on the radio, so he made one up.

But the real question is how a guy can run a public petition asking her to withdraw, brag about the 10s of new signatures he is getting, and then suggest that she could withdraw in a way that would hide the idea she was forced out. Does anybody here think that could EVER happen, that you could now get her to withdraw and leave everybody thinking she did so for reasons OTHER than conservative angst?

Sounds like the "let's have Cheney fake a heart attack" stuff from the last election.

On the other hand, Frum does take credit for 3 words, or the "genesis" of the 3 words "axis of evil" when he only got the "axis of" which is not original and his third word sucked.

I know that Frum was trying to criticize her, but what is wrong with conventional and corporate views?

He sounds like a closet radical to me.

If Frum's a Canadian citizen, then he doesn't have squat to say about a United States Supreme Court nominee. I don't know about anybody else, but it really ticks me off when non-citizens butt into our internal affairs. I still haven't gotten over how the British Press tried to inject itself in our last elections and then to add insult to injury, the EU threatened to boycott products from the battle ground states if they voted for GWB!

If this is an embarrassment for Frum, it's also an embarrassment for Medved. He's giving EXCESSIVE mouth time to disloyal enemies of the President like Frum. The same way Hannity gives inordinate mouth and face time to the likes of his "dear friends" like Charles Rangle and other hard-core leftists who are bringing this country down.

These people become famous and wealthy in part because of years of being invited to propagandize on conservative talk shows. Rush is too principled (and too smart) to do this.

Smooth-talker Frum is ticked that he and his elite DC lawyer buddies didn't have any influence on the President's choice. He's also in the spotlight as he rides the Miers merry-go-round.

Medved may be the better debater, but Frum is getting his personal-agenda message out to the public just fine...... and that's all he wants to do.....nothing more.....he could care less about Michael's debating talents or his passion.

He endorses lying. That's all I needed to hear.

THAT sounds like a democrat... I really have no interest in hearing anything else from Mr. Frum.

I can't stop laughing -- listening to him now SPECULATING and trying to tell us what POTUS and Harriet DIDN'T talk about in private. ROTFLMAO!

Frum says that Bush never really talked to her about constitutional issues (how does he know)? says she never did anything useful in the white house, and Bush mistook her working as a lawyer for a client as a real relationship.

Frum still says he wishes the nomination would be withdrawn quickly and QUIETLY. I guess he thinks NRO is a secret society unknown in the real world.

True, and yet another example of Frum's penchant for lying. He needs that as his only claim to fame, and yet, all he really did was borrow the axis word from WWII.

Frum is a pathetic little man.

His suggestion that they lie about why she would withdraw is both disgusting, and a useless political position now that there is this "rising tide" of calls to withdraw.

Frum should know better. If he wanted them to lie about her backing out, he would do this task quietly, behind the scenes ...

Author! Author!! Hear Hear!! Amen to that. His poll irked me, and his piling on is not based on a clearly elucidated principle. His argument is not compelling, it is mean spirited. He is an ass in tactic.

If there must be a way to reverse course, that course must have dignity and give all involved some credible means to save face. These are human beings we are talking about, as as far as I can tell, they are genuinely decent.

Thanks for the thread, sinkspur.

Perhaps so.

I don't see any reason why he shouldn't be slightly embittered at the fact that such a mediocre intellect was elevated above so many others, e.g. Prof. Mary Ann Glendon, Viet Dienh, Judge Edith Jones, Judge Diane Sykes, Judge Alice Batchelder, etc., who are so much more qualified to sit on the Supreme Court.

Furthermore, the idea that Miers would sit in judgment of Frum is so patently ridiculous that it strains credulity.

This is the equivalent of stating that a semi-literate Parisian waiter has earned the right to critique the naturalism of Emile Zola.
