This is indeed polite patter. The basic problem in the black community IS the collapse of the nuclear family. Black leaders had a calf when Pat Moynihan pointed this out. Things have gotten worse, in part because of the "Sporting' Life" l style that has been embraced by so much of both white and black communities.
It is the rare individual who had terrible parents who was able to pull himself up and work toward success.
Every failing in this country can be traced to the decline of the family, discipline, and respect.
And that is NOT a black thing, nor is it a rich/poor thing. It is pervasive. And all this feel goody, self esteem, politically correct b.s., not to mention the willingness for everyone to blame someone else and then sue, will be the death of this country.
Oh, well then obviously you should have been on Ritalin during your childhood, like every other kid nowadays.
But that is another rant, for another day, I suppose.
I must disagree and say that it IS a black thing, although not only a black thing. Even the "million man march" leaders see that their community is in distress. But when the Bill Cosbys start talking out, they can't stand it, and trylike Farrakan to deflect blame to the white community. The sad thing is that they know what should be done but cannot get their people to do it. The rest of the country has, as you say, suffered a corruption of morals, and the children of all races are attracted to behavior that is destructive to themselves and the nation at large.
Im talking about bush putting a Conservative in for VP...George Allen is a guy i had in mind
Either way, I don't think the Bush White House should try to play king maker in the 2008 primaries.
