"Prior to the discovery of noodles at Lajia, the earliest written record of noodles is traced to a book written during the East Han Dynasty sometime between AD 25 and 220, although it remained a subject of debate whether the Chinese, the Italians, or the Arabs invented it first.

I had heard long ago, that Marco Polo was the person who brought the noodle to Italy after one of his trips to China.

Maybe I'm a bit ignorant, but isn't "Italians" a bit too modern a term, anyway? Was there actually any Italy before the Dark Ages? Before the turn of the Roman Republic? I'm thinking if you're arguing thousands of years, there aren't any Italians to argue about and it's all moot!

We see more "archeology" from China every day that is intended to boost the stature of the Chinese culture. It is about as credible as Hitler's master race BS. Wheat flour originated as early as 5000 BC in Mesopotamia which would have enabled the production of noodles by a very simple drying process. I have personally seen 4th century BC Etruscan art depicting people making noodles.
