"So those with judicial track records...Souter, Kennedy, and O'Connor all swung left."
They certainly were not conservative. That is my point.

Do her credentials stand alone?
If she was not a friend of the Administration, would she have been selected?
If she had been picked by the Dems, would she be acceptable?

I'm going to; I'm planning to reserve judgement till after her hearings. That's a reasonable position. I can respect that.
Also, I don't think all this conservative turmoil is worth it, when there were other(s),
So who is raising the turmoil? Armchair quarterbacks of all stripes.

If we are busy waging war against the Socialists, will we still have time to wage war against the Democrats?

I think her legal qualifications as a lawyer are good enough, but her history (she was a democrat just a few years ago) does not suggest that she is a conservative. We are told to just shut up and trust Bush on this one, much like what has happened in the past with republican SC nominees that turned out to go liberal.

look down their noses at anyone who does not graduate from Harvard or Yale or even Stanford. I disagree. Most of us don't care if she graduated from Biff's College of Law and Auto Mechanics Institute. The fact is that she has no record as a conservative.
Seven of the nine justices on SCOTUS are Republican appointees. We (conservatives) have been burned too many times to blindly accept a nominee with a history of RAT campaign contributions and no proven conservative philosophy. Conservatives are willing to walk through hell for Janice Rogers Brown, Michael Luttig, Samuel Alito, Priscilla Owens, Emilio Garza, Miguel Estrada or Edith Clement. Instead, we get a former Lottery Commissioner.

Yes, I wonder if he had known all the squabbling Miers would generate, would Bush have even nominated her. I think he would have gone with his 2nd choice.

"Miers once owned a .45-caliber revolver, a gift from a brother who was worried about her safety when she lived alone in Dallas."
She said, "The same liberties that ensure a free society make the innocent vulnerable to those who prevent rights and privileges and commit senseless and cruel acts," Miers wrote in Texas Lawyer when she was president of the state bar. "Those precious liberties include free speech, freedom to assemble ... access to public places, the right to bear arms and freedom from constant surveillance.
"We are not willing to sacrifice these rights because of the acts of maniacs," she concluded.

I guess we can excuse your past ignorance, but I don't want to take a chance on a SC lifetime appointment to a former democrat without any real conservative track record. That is just plain stupid IMO. Reagan proved himself. She has not.

But is she intellectually strong enough to resist the leftist pull of the media/Beltway cocktail set? Anthony Kennedy wasn't. Having been connected to people the caliber of George Bush, Dick Cheney, or Condoleeza Rice-why would she ever consider demeaning herself with the "intelligentsia" of Washington, DC.

How much of the background of those you listed do you know? I mean THEIR PERSONAL BACKGROUND. I'll bet the President has more information on them than you do, and that he nominated Miers because she can make it through the DEMOCRAT ANAL EXAM that will be given for every Republican nominee. Betcha! Those ALREADY on the bench somewhere, as those on your list are, have LOTS to lose if their backgrounds aren't CLEAN as a raindrop in the rainforest.
