I see you're in Tinian. My dad was there, as I recall, towards the end of WWII just before his last wartime station on mainland China. He was at Tinsin (sp). Near the mouth of some river at the coast near Peking. Marines had trouble there, and some were killed, by communist chinese troops. That was sometime in 1945 if memory serves.

I am in Tainan, Taiwan. South west coast of the island.
Oldest city of the island and former capital. Now its a very nice mid-sized town far from the dirt, congestion and pollution of Taipei in the north and KaoShiung in the south.
