I don't think conservatism is dead at all.
I think the Republican party might be on life support, but I've learned the difference between the Party and the ideals.
It may be difficult for the conservatives in the Republican party to take control back of the party in the near future, but Conservatism is alive and well. We just need to organize ourselves better.

If the party's leaders have a plan to cut spending and dismantle half of Washington's mammoth bureaucracy, I'd be delighted. I'm not holding my breath waiting for it to be realized.
