There is another party. Its called the elect, the Sons of God, the Heavenly party. When they appear on Earth, everything will change. In fact, even the ground they walk on will have the curse removed from it. No more tears, no more fears, no more sickness, no more disease, no more aging, people returning to the days of their youth. They will remove the curse from YOUR body as well, if you cry out for deliverance from the Lord. Until then all you can do is endure a world being consumed by the effects of man's sinful nature.

Most of the Bible was written for the days we are living in, so I admonish you to read it often.

Job 33
23 If there be a messenger with him, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to shew unto man his uprightness:
24 Then he is gracious unto him, and saith, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom.
25 His flesh shall be fresher than a child's: he shall return to the days of his youth:
26 He shall pray unto God, and he will be favourable unto him: and he shall see his face with joy: for he will render unto man his righteousness.
27 He looketh upon men, and if any say, I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it profited me not;
28 He will deliver his soul from going into the pit, and his life shall see the light.

What the batnip do Roberts and Miers have to do with this?

Tell you what, give me the first liberal SCOTUS ruling either have produced?

Until you can do that, strap up, do what you can to change what you can, and show a little faith in the man you've elected.

We've got a pretty strong economy, we're paying less taxes than before, and I don't know how much of this we could honestly claim with Kerry at the helm.

Then you have two likely conservative SCOTUS justice v. Little Ginsberg and Little Stephens up for the ballot.

Geez, man. Rush always talks about how Dems are always down in the dumps. Pull yourself up and do something.

A fine _____ whine?

Granted, Farah's over the top but I don't think any one has any real idea how much the government spends today. A couple of trillion dollars. It would take you a couple of decades to count every cent. What's going on is costing us our freedoms and people seem happy about it. I suspect Republicans will be happy once we've established socialism as the law of the land.

You make some good points, but there are a few I would at least comment on -

" 5 years ago it was illegal to arm commercial pilots. Today it is not."

How many are actually armed? I have read article after article stating that DOT was simply refusing to train or approve them.

3 years ago Saddam Hussein was in power. Today he's in jail."

This has nothing to do with freedom in the US. The tri-ethnic polyglot called Iraq can probably not be held together without a very strong central government, IMHO.

"Conservatism has only "lost ground?!" Does Farah earn so little that he hasn't noticed our 3 income tax cuts, the repeal of the Estate Tax, the cut of the dividend double-tax, and the energy credit tax cut?!"

Bush does get half credit on this one. Unfortunately , he gets a failing grade on the DEFICIT subject matter, as the idea is the cut spending AND taxes, not increase spending while cutting taxes. Republicans are the big spending party, apparently. Personally, as far as taxes and spending go, I liked political gridlock MUCH better.

What's her judicial philosophy? What does she think of government vs society? Of freedom vs judicial tyranny? No one on here can say for sure.

Right, and so many are taking that swan dive off the cliff.

The more I hear about Miers, the more I wonder if in the end it won't be the liberals who are gnashing their teeth.

I wanted Bush elected because I trusted his judgment. Let the process work, and understand that the smart thing to do as far as SCOTUS repairs are concerned, is to put people on the court who view the Constitution as a purposeful document, as are all the amendments to it.

More importantly, in the case of a need for interpretation, that sound judgment, founder's intent and American, not foreign precedent is what is used to make that judgment. Lastly, that the court makes decisions based on law and not some damn social fad.

Apparently, he thinks Miers will do that and from day one until.................. That is enough for me... The pick is made.

If Republicans filled every seat in the U.S. Congress and maintained control of the presidency, unconstitutional government would continue in Washington unchecked.

Exactly.

Today's crop of republicans are NO BETTER than demoncraps.

While I too don't understand this nomination, I do know Bush has continually been misunderestimated and is one hell of a poker player.

Only time will tell what he has up his sleeve with this. Tear up your party card if you wish and join the Democrats, I'm going to wait and see what he is up to, not that I have any other choice, LOL.

My hope is to change the culture from one that has said, if it feels good, do it; if you've got a problem, blame somebody else -- to one in which every single American understands that he or she are responsible for the decisions that you make; you're responsible for loving your children with all your heart and all your soul; you're responsible for being involved with the quality of the education of your children; you're responsible for making sure the community in which you live is safe; you're responsible for loving your neighbor, just like you would like to be loved yourself. This article is way too defeatist for my taste. It also misses a huge point, which is that Conservatism is an ideology and the GOP is a Political Party (a coalition, if you like).

The Conservative Movement and the ideology of conservatism is most certainly not dead. Farah is flat-out wrong on that one. Mr. Farah is prone to exaggeration.

The question is to what degree the Conservative Movement now influences the GOP. I am not really certain that this has loosened, either. I do see increasing hostility to the criticisms some of us level against the party. This is particularly prominent on matters of illegal immigration and lately with the SCOTUS picks as of late. This is just the latest string in a long history of rivalries and sniping that sweep through this place periodically. Having seen far too many of these things (many in the pre-FR era for me) come and go, I am not going to go off half-cocked and say that the GOP or the movement are dead.

We have gotten many important things accomplished under the current leadership. The Assault Weapons Ban is no more, we are now free to enjoy more of the public lands for recreation or to strengthen our agriculture, we did not sign on to Kyoto, and we've got John Bolton at the UN defending our sovereignty. Those are what come to mind immediately. We have not been successful in the permanent abolition of the Death Tax, the red tape has not been cut in terms of rehabilitating our energy infrastructure, we still have no idea who is coming into this country across either of our borders, and without some fiscal responsibility, those tax rates will have to go up sometime in the future.

When I voice discontent at a particular position that party or the administration has taken, it does not translate into a summary withdrawal of my general support for the party or the President. That is utter nonsense. For the most part, we are among friends. Friends deserve an honest discussion, folks.
