in Fla there were a rash of rest stop attacks many yrs ago, so they started putting in an armed patrol and it ended. Several years ago NC started doing that also after a rash of rest stop crimes. Any time you stopped at a rest stop you saw a patrol car.
But I think the practice has been stopped.
And of course, CCW is illegal in rest stops.

A neighbor's husband was murdered in FL during that reststop spree..
She has still not recovered from the trauma... Had they been armed and trained and willing to use their weapons...they would have stood a chance of surviving... imo
