I wonder if there is any correlation at all with the frequency of hurricanes and the solar cycle?
Both are cyclical.

They don't dare speak "power to truth". It would be suicide for the left.

That chart is misleading, I think.

Each bar represents 10 years except the last bar represents 2001-2004. So you would have to multiply that bar by 2.5 to get the "decade's" projected results.

You;re right! But even doubling the numbers would still put it less than average.

One of the things our illustrious news media has done is alarm people with all their cat4 - cat5 screams & yells and they've been ignoring a few things like Tides and Water temperatures that would have forecast the quick slow-down and hard turn that this hurricane did.

"little" hurricane Alicia Cat-II in 1983 caused much more damage because it hit during High Tide and the tidal surge destroyed most of the coastal houses and buildings and flooded inland 10 miles - heavy rains flooded much more than that during the storm and tornadoes really played havoc.

If I remember - I never paid that much attention, but I would swear that the "official" storm category depends on what it is when it hits land. Not what it was out in the middle of the hottest water area.

I heard today that there are more hurricanes today because of global warming. The oceans have warmed 1 degree over the last 50 years which fuels the intensity and number of hurricanes. Makes sense.

Except for one thing, the data belies the claim that there are more hurricanes today. In fact, it shows just the opposite, which I think was the point of this post.
