Top Dems leave as protest nears
Party split between anti-war activists and prominent critics

WASHINGTON - As the anti-war movement arrives in Washington this weekend, many Democrats are leaving.

Nationally known Democratic war critics, including Howard Dean, chairman of the Democratic National Committee, and Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York, Russell Feingold of Wisconsin and John Kerry of Massachusetts, won't attend what sponsors say will be a big anti-war rally Saturday in Washington.

**SNIP**

En route to Washington for the rally, anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan protested outside Clinton's New York office. "She knows that the war is a lie, but she is waiting for the right time to say it," Sheehan said. "You say it or you are losing your job."

Spokesmen for the Democrats who are skipping the anti-war event all said they had schedule conflicts. But some leading anti-war activists aren't buying it.

"There are a lot of people here who are wondering, where are the Democrats?" said Tom Andrews, a former Democratic House member from Maine who's now the national director of Win Without War.

"The Democratic Party has an identity crisis on this issue. We need voices. We need leadership," Andrews said. "But fear is driving them."

John Effin' Kerry not up for a good ol' anti-American war protest? He must be going limp in his old age...

We know they may be out of town, but their hearts are with those who hate America.

Since most of the protesters seem to be close to retirement age, will they be burning their Social Security cards?

I get the image of a drunk lunatic and a sober but feeble counterpart scrapping for control over the steering wheel of the Democrat jalopy as it careens toward the cliff. It's not clear who is sitting in the driver's seat.

many Democrats are leaving.

How appropriate, rats leaving a sinking ship.
They know the country isn't buying into
the leftist anti-war garbage and so they don't
want to be within 40 miles of this.

This at least tells us that we can beat these Anarcho/socialist skum, and the democrats too.

Very telling...if the Dems had any hint at all that the majority of the American people are against the war they would show up in full force...but they realize that is not the case and so are distancing themselves...but using the "scheduling conflict" excuse in hope of not alienating their disturbed base...

McKinney and Conyers are supposed to show--wonder how well they get along with Cindy's other pal David Duke? RATS sure make strange bedfellows. Of course the way McKinney, Conyers, and others in Clinton's RAT cult have held people of color down all these years with the subtle bigotry of low expectations, they might as well be wearing a sheet ala Duke.
