Who is going to become a Border Police Officer, when you want to deny them pension benefits?
-----
Retired military and other public servants who are not in it for the pension anymore... and put the public good above personal gain.

Not buying it. The idea that people won't take jobs unless they're guaranteed fat government pensions is belied everyday by the people who are lining up for jobs of all kinds in the private sector. The better quesiton is, how long are private employees -- who don't have pensions for the most part -- going to agree to continue having money deducted from their paychecks (and from their opportunity to save for retirement) so government workers can draw big paychecks even after retiring?

I think there are a lot of government workers and government retirees on FR. It's going to be hard to scale back the pensions; too many people are on the gravy bus. But it's a bus that's going to bankrupt us, so somebody has to stop it. Hope Schwarzenegger has the courage to try.
