HELP A WOUNDED SOLDIER ~ Appeal from a Security Mom 4 Bush member about her nephew
Dear SM4B member,
This is a forwarded message from Minnie, one of our first volunteers to sign up for Security Moms 4 Bush. Please read her appeal. We rallied as a group last fall when our Security Mom ~ Teri in Ohio ~ needed our prayers for her son Nate and I know we can rally again! Please read Minnie's message abut Buzz and send a card, note, email and keep him and his beautiful family in your prayers.

Please help me help my nephew.
Sgt. First Class Richard (Buzz) Robertson at Walter Reed Hospital. He was injured in Iraq on August 25, 2005.
Buzz is close to his 20-year milestone in the Army. He serves in Special Operations and was wounded in action near the Syrian border. He was the driver of an armored vehicle that hit a mine. The after action report states that his driving skill kept the vehicle from rolling when it hit the mine. If the vehicle had rolled, likely none of the members of his team would have survived. As it is three of the men were killed outright by the explosion. A forth died from his injuries in the hospital in Germany.
His doctors have said that they do not expect Buzz to walk again because of the damage to his spinal cord. He also has a cracked vertebra in his neck and must wear a collar for that, but it is expected to heal well. However with the spinal injuries and the stomach surgery to remove the shrapnel, this added complication means he is very restricted and must spend most of the time laying flat. Thus, the need for cards and notes to help pass the time and to help keep his attitude positive while he goes through the long recuperation process.
The Army and in particular the members of Buzzs Special Ops unit have been very supportive. Buzz and his wife, Sarah have a home in NC. While Sarah is spending time in Washington, DC to be near Buzz, members of his unit from Fort Bragg have been keeping the lawn mowed and picking up the mail, and in general keeping an eye on their home.
Please send him a rd or letter and ask your friends and neighbors to do the same. You can send cards and letters to SFC Richard Robertson (patient) ~Walter Reed Hospital ~ 6900 Georgia Avenue NW ~ Washington, DC 20307-0004. Or if you prefer email, send him a note at SFCbuzzrobertson@yahoo.com We print those notes off and snail mail them to him, but after he is better and able to move about the hospital, hell check the mail himself and respond. The Red Cross provides a computer for patients to check email in the hospital.
I have learned some things from this experience of trying to get cards and letters for Buzz. The most important thing is that there are a lot of wonderful people (real Americans) all over this nation who respect our military and believe in the mission of our War Against Terror. And, those people relish the opportunity to show a wounded soldier their support.
For example, There is a Young Republican group in Virginia that has been going to Walter Reed to demonstrate in support of our troops. They station themselves between the Code Pink demonstrators and the hospital.
The other thing I have learned is those Liberals who say they Hate the War, but support the Troops are a bunch of hypocrites. After my initial request for cards and letters, one woman felt it was her duty to come and tell me that she could not send a card telling Buzz she supports the War in Iraq. When I reminded her that was not what I had asked, she said well hes a career military and stomped off.

I've got his address and will send him a card. Thanks for caring.
Consider it done!
PING for later action,
to help a soldier who made a sacrifice in Liberating Iraq.
God Bless this hero and his brave family. Will send a card/letter this weekend. Thanks for posting the information.
FYI prayer ping...Please consider sending a message to Sgt. First Class Richard (Buzz) Robertson at Walter Reed Hospital.
Could one of you look in on this guy ?
Also, if anything is needed to be purchased, I will donate.
I will.
OK, just added card to my shopping list. I'll get one off to him tomorrow. Think I'll send an e-mail now so I don't forget.
Thank you for the opportunity to thank Sgt. Robertson. Prayers for him and family.
Hate to sound like a cynic, but there's something wrong here. Someone got some facts wrong or this is a fraud.
There are four SFC Richard Robinson's listed on the Army White Pages. None are in special operations.
What led me to check was the statement that SFC Robinson was:
a) Driving anything
b) In Special forces and driving an armored vehicle
c) That at least five special forces guys were traveling in an armored vehicle
d) A .com website is used by someone apparently representing this moms' organization
e) This piece says Robinson is a Sergeant First Class, but the news piece to which it is links refers to him simply as Sergeant
I hope my scepticism is misplaced and that any factual errors in this story can be corrected or clarified.
Prayers up for this hero.
I will surely write.
I think the reason why you didn't find anything is because you
checked under "Robinson". This wounded soldier's last name
is Robertson . I think your eyes played a little trick on you :)
-- happens to me all the time. Best Regards.
Coleus -- I will pray for and write to Sgt. Robertson and his family.
Would love to send mail.
What do they need? Hubby and I love to spend money.
bookmark for the address to send a card.
Lord please protect and heal all of our military men and women. They are really fighting this war for you and our beliefs. We ask You to place a shield over them as they do this. Please hear this soldier's needs and give his doctors the knowledge and guide their hands as they continue to repair Buzz. In Your Son's Name, Amen.
Bump!
Will do, and will get others to, as well.
