"They haven't received the message yet? American's are so not in to being lectured by stars -- many of whom are under-educated at best and pompous as all get out."
You know I have to wonder about that. I read an article last week or two I believe about how disappointing the summer box office number have been. The explanation was that the movies sucked (my boiled down interpretation). But I agree with you. I wonder if people aren't boycotting Hollywood. Oh I don't mean an organized boycott. I mean just a "no I'd rather not see a Sen Penn movie thanks anyway".
I was watching Spike and Halle Berrie is on there with some program about irresistible women. But frankly I remember what Halle's opinion of America is and there is no way I could watch that.

I think you hit the nail on the head. I don't go to movies populated by "stars" of the I hate America verity.

That's my opinion these days. I see they moved West Wing to Sundays and couldn't help reflect that Martin Sheen ruined their ratings with all his activism.
American's don't like to be lectured. We don't like to be lectured by other American's and certainly not by American's who are overseas bad mouthing our country; and I won't willingly give my hard-earned money to people I consider anti-american.

I wonder if people aren't boycotting Hollywood. Oh I don't mean an organized boycottThat's the case with me. I don't consciously boycott but, I've been simply not going to the movies because I'm sick of giving my money to people who haven't earned a position of moral superiority - but utilize the fame they've garnered from being professional make-believers to lecture me in huffy, overanxious tones about the righteousness of their point of view on the particulars of the world at large.
If your business isn't politics, keep your politics out of your business. How hard is that to understand? If I owned a coffee shop here in Seattle, I wouldn't have a picture of President Bush on my wall.
