They wanted to get their ratings out of the toilet I guess.
Won't and didn't work! :-)
Question: How many people died as a result of the heat wave?
Klinenberg: In 1995 there were no uniform standards for determining a "heat related death," so officials had to develop them. Edmund Donoghue, Cook County's chief medical examiner, used state-of-the-art criteria to report 465 heat-related deaths for the heat wave week and 521 heat deaths for the month of July. But Mayor Richard M. Daley challenged these findings. "It's hot," the mayor told the media. "But let's not blow it out of proportion. . . . Every day people die of natural causes. You cannot claim that everybody who has died in the last eight or nine days dies of heat. Then everybody in the summer that dies will die of heat." Many local journalists shared Daley's skepticism, and before long the city was mired in a callous debate over whether the so-called heat deaths wereto use the term that recurred at the time"really real."

CNN is learning from Whorealdo.
Don't ya just love their fair and objective reporting ??
/ sarcasm >
" You feel your pain".
I think Fox News Channel issued the same order!
Welcome to the Jerry Springer CNN show.
I think I'll start buying the Enquirer they seem to get it right more often that MSM and do it with less sensationalism.
I don't have to tell you things are bad. Everybody knows things are bad. It's a depression. Everybody's out of work or scared of losing their job. The dollar buys a nickel's worth; banks are going bust; shopkeepers keep a gun under the counter; punks are running wild in the street, and there's nobody anywhere who seems to know what to do, and there's no end to it.
We know the air is unfit to breathe and our food is unfit to eat. And we sit watching our TVs while some local newscaster tells us that today we had fifteen homicides and sixty-three violent crimes, as if that's the way it's supposed to be!
We all know things are bad -- worse than bad -- they're crazy.
It's like everything everywhere is going crazy, so we don't go out any more. We sit in the house, and slowly the world we're living in is getting smaller, and all we say is, "Please, at least leave us alone in our living rooms. Let me have my toaster and my TV and my steel-belted radials, and I won't say anything. Just leave us alone."
Well, I'm not going to leave you alone.
I want you to get mad!
I don't want you to protest. I don't want you to riot. I don't want you to write to your Congressman, because I wouldn't know what to tell you to write. I don't know what to do about the depression and the inflation and the Russians and the crime in the street.
All I know is that first, you've got to get mad!!
You've gotta say, "I'm a human being, goddammit! My life has value!"
So, I want you to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now and go to the window, open it, and stick your head out and yell,
"I'm as mad as hell,
and I'm not going to take this anymore!!"
The first day Wolfe Blitzer reported on the riots and the video was air of blacks looting he made a statement to the effect, "They are just so black, and this will need to be addressed". He then interviewed a black Congresswoman whose name escapes me now, but at the end of the interview she admonished Blitzer to, "Keep talking about this. Talk it up". I remember thinking then that she was ordering hime to continue inciting the blacks in his broadcasts. Now this. It is in keeping with all of these players.
Not surprising at all.
Last year, a close associate (non-media average citizen) who was a witness in a presidential campaign issue was invited to discuss it on two MSNBC shows - Chrissie Matthews' Hardball and Joe Scarborough. He turned them down when they told him he would be paired up with left-wing media types (non-witnesses) because they wanted a screaming match, not a reasoned discussion of the issues. They were the actual words the producers used!
He refused to be drawn into a sideshow with a bunch of morons. More people should adopt the same approach and dry up the guest pool for these whores.
TV reporters being encouraged to act like drama queens.
Surprise, surprise
News manufactured in an attempt to increase CNN's ratings.
Didn't work. I was watching CNN until they started ranting and raving. Now I'm boycotting.
There no longer is an information focused news source in all of America.
Am I surprised? No....
