The briefing is available online via C-SPAN at

http://www.c-span.org/homepage.asp?Cat=Current_Event&Code=HUR&ShowVidNum=30&Rot_Cat_CD=HUR&Rot_HT=&Rot_WD=&ShowVidDays=365&ShowVidDesc=&ArchiveDays=365

Click on Dept. of Homeland Security & FEMA on Hurricane Katrina Relief (09/08/2005)

Though this may appear to be largely a CYA session, the value is hearing the information from LA officials rather than the version filtered through the MSM or even our own posts and speculations.

Why would the LA Guard use the school buses BEFORE they were deployed.

Who cares if they didn't use them after the disaster.

Although it looks as if Jabbar Gibson could teach them a thing or two about driving on flooded streets.

I guess the Louisiana National Guard is no longer under the gag order to keep their mouths shut. Or does the exemption only apply to CYA efforts?

OK, so according to them, everything went smoothly. So then why was the Mayor and Governor going after Bush? Why is everyone going after FEMA? Where were they slow in responding?

That bit about the buses is a bit hard to swallow. If that's their excuse for going after FEMA, asking them Tues or Weds for 500 buses is a bit much. Considering how fast they arrived afterwards. Again, why didn't they use the school buses. If a 20 year old kid can drive one when he's never driven one before, why couldn't they find people to drive them?

You know what this sounds like to me? This sounds like President Bush being exceptionally kind to the mayor and governor.

Bill Orielly had a retired Colonel on last night and he has been trying to find out the orders the LA National Guard received from Gov Blanco......no one is talking. The Colonel said that he would continue to try to find the answers and get back with Bill Orielly.

The forced disarmament of citizens who were holed up in the upscale neighborhoods which didn't flood, perhaps? Those folks are sitting ducks in their nice homes as we speak, and those orders didn't come from the Feds!!
