MIDI - THIS DIAMOND RING
Who wants to buy this submerged bus
It is in fair condition, well, except for all the rust
This submerged bus had been used by our school kids
And those little rascals made bus drivers flip their lids
So come on down...a good deal is in store
I have hundreds more
Who wants to buy this submerged bus
You'll get a 6-month warranty...I'm someone you can trust
This submerged bus had been used by our school kids
And those little rascals made bus drivers flip their lids
So come on down...a good deal is in store
I have hundreds more
(musical break)
This submerged bus had been used by our school kids
And those little rascals made bus drivers flip their lids
So come on down...a good deal is in store
I have hundreds more
This submerged bus had been used by our school kids
And those little rascals made bus drivers flip their lids
So come on down...a good deal is in store
I have hundreds more
This submerged bus had been used by our school kids
And those little rascals made bus drivers flip their lids
So come on down (fade out)
134 thousand without cars.....
with the 429 (best #rs found on the web) RTA buses (municipal) 324 school buses and 890+ in Baton Rouge (also web found #rs... all I assume are reliable because they reported their own numbers) there were more than 1600 buses available for evac.
Would have taken 2 trips to move those people.
This is criminal neglect and manslaughter kind of stuff.
Oh, before I forget... Baton Rouge is less than 2 hours away. (81 miles)
I didn't know they had that many available. What an unnecessary loss of life. It would also be helpful if they had water and rations available in the safe location to which they would be driven.
One of the biggest problems, second only to city and state officials' stupidity, is that the roadways were clogged.
Why are none of the finger-pointing bureaucrats and politicians talking about the events BEFORE Katrina hit? They only want to talk about what happened AFTER the hurricane hit. Something stinks here and it isn't the New Orleans Superdome.
They had so much notice, and even if they positioned stuff where it would not get flooded out...
It would have changed the whole thing... but hey...

There are the numbers.
Oh, and a school bus can handle 66 kids... and id call that 50 adults for round numbers.
The cars going out.. much fewer..
Maybe part of Homeland Security needs to be this kinda planning. Get out in your car to where you can get on a bus at a truck stop kinda thing.
Once the levees were breeched the buses would have had clear sailing. Assuming they had they been moved to higher ground.
I think they had 80 on the school bus that was driven to Houston.
The assumption here is that all you have to do is drive buses into the ghetto, and the residents therein will cheerfully get on the bus...to nowhere. Crackheads; dealers;gangstas...all just happily gettting on a bus that has nowhere to take them. And because the gubmint doesn't allow guns, alcohol, or drugs on the bus, the residents would just cheerfully get on the bus. Da Mayor knows his city. Sending the busses into the ghetto would have accomplished nothing but the killing of the drivers.
No everyone would get on the bus. But those who needed help should have been given the opportunity.
