429 RTA Buses and 329 School buses in N.O.

900 School buses in East / West Baton Rouge , 81 miles away.

GOOD GOD!!!! At least 1658 state government owned buses within an hour and a half of N.O.

This is just N.O. and Baton Rouge.

I am shocked.

Looking for stats on how many municipal busses were in NO.

I believe it is around 325 or 350.

Exactly, the thug underclass is too good to ride in school buses. They'd rather die in style then ride in a big yellow bus. Apparently, this is all Bush's fault for not sending convoys of superstretch hummers with Cristal in them.

The plan SHOULD have been that every bus driver take his bus home, load his family then as many others as he could, and head for a prearranged location. Seems simple enough.

Oh by the way it was comedian Steve Harvey dressed up in a pimp suit who said that.

Listen, it was bad enough that the the Hurricane Center woke up Nagin Saturday night to insist he evacuate NO, and then you want him to stay up and do all this work? It was Saturday night...

Brit Hume was talking to someone who would not answer his direct questions. Interesting.

I'll dig around the NOAA photos and pull out a few from the river areas in a bit; Monday's family night at home.

These are the school buses at McBride School in Plaquemines Parish - notice how they've been thrown into a sort of a circle while others are in the trees. Parish authorities related on WWL how they were evacuating their fire trucks because 'those things are expensive to replace.' Evidently school buses are cheap. Buses are in the top center of the image.

This would be Sonrise School, also in the Plaquemines parish. The buses are in the bottom left hand side of the image.

There are more places - I remember seeing one place that had loads of short buses that were flooded out too, but to be honest, I can't go through that NOAA imagary anymore tonight - Plaquemains parish is a horrible place to look at from above.

The senselessness of the tragedy keeps compounding itself. One trip would have cleared New Orleans. One, maybe two trips gets them all out by Friday Night 12 hours after President Bush offered. All of those fatalities could have been dining out Sunday, Monday, Tuesday,....what a tragic thing for Blanco and Nagan to carry for the rest of their myserable lives.
