Cindy’s Bus Tour Pals Leech Off Red Cross Katrina Effort
Sweetness & Light ^ | September 5, 2005 | N/A

Posted on 09/05/2005 3:27:35 PM PDT by Sam Hill

Veterans For Peace, the rabid hate-America group who's impeachment tour Cindy Sheehan glommed on to, has decided to try to milk the Katrina disaster for their own nefarious ends.

First they claim they are "supporting the Rd Cross with power and medical supplies. (Sure they are.)

Then the VFP list what they need to continue their propaganda campaign. And mind you, nothing but the best will do. ($3K for a monitor?):

You see, the Red Cross doesn't have computers or multi-media equipment of their own. No way.

I wonder if the Red Cross knows that these parasites at Veterans For [a] Peace [of the action] are using their name and bogus support to leech more money, fancy equipment and services for their America-hating ends?

How low can you go?

This is despicable, to be trying to siphon off donations from the hurricane relief. Out of the limelight and less cash coming in, I guess, courtesy of Katrina.

$600 for a freaking iPod? Where are they getting them from, defense contractors?

That's crazy. They can use crappy $200 monitors and $100 MP3 players like the rest of us do. And go out and scrounge up some used Celerons or something--what, Windows is too good for 'em? Jeez. Leeches.

Let's see: $15k for fancy monitors, $2500 for hard drives, $22.5k for fancy video cameras, $2k for projectors, $3k for iPods.

Absolutely shameless shilling: Priceless.

"This is despicable"

What can you expect? If the "Impeach President Bush", anti-Iraq war crowd can use Free Republic to promote their cause they can use anyone.

"$600 for a freaking iPod? Where are they getting them from, defense contractors?"

And just why do they need a freaking iPod in the first place?

"Absolutely shameless shilling: Priceless."

What are they bringing to the table again? They don't have any volunteers, food, medical supplies, equipment...

Is it the glamor of their name that's going to help the cause?

I'm a little tapped right now, but I'll donate 2 tin cans and a lot of string if they'll come by and pick them up.

These are the same people who helped Cindy raise $600K for Fallujah.

But I bet the Red Cross--and none of the Katrina victims--ever see a dime from them.

But it's okay. They'll get some nice Mac gear out of it. And some more $$$$$$$$ for their real job--impeaching Bush and attacking America.

"We are supporting The Red Cross with power and medical supplies and kitchen service, food bank, and distribution and Internet communications and trained medical personnel."

Or rather, they might support the Red Cross with these things if somebody gives them power, medical supplies and kitchen service and food and pays their internet connection, and some doctors volunteer.

But at least maybe they'll score some iPods from this scam.

They mention "with recording" in the article...guess they use them as super-fancy tape recorders. But $600 each? They can hit Staples and get a little Dictaphone thingy for $50. Oh, but they can't listen to Green Day and Joan Baez on that, can they?

The Crawford Peace House raised over $150k last I heard (for similar stuff: computers, etc.), and now the "Veterans for Peace" want a piece of the gravytrain too, only now they are attempting to take funds away from the victims of the hurricane.

Just disgusting. Just had to vent some more. I think we all should notify the Red Cross, as others have mentioned. I'm sending off an email now.
