WASHINGTON - (KRT) - With many blaming the growing scope of Katrina's devastation on the Bush administration, Sen. Hillary Clinton called Sunday for a 9/11-style probe into how the federal government responded to the crisis. "It has become increasingly evident that our nation was not prepared," Clinton, D-N.Y., said in a letter to Bush asking him to set up a "Katrina Commission."

If I were Hillary Clinton the LAST thing I would want is a nationally televised commission that will inevitably showcase how a female Democrat governor displayed abysmal stupidity, stubborness, ignorance and incompetence in dealing with a crisis.
_______________________________________________________

And how a black democratic mayor left the old, infirmed, and the poor at the mercy of the storm while ignoring the legally constituted evacuation plan. If I was Bush, I would immediately take Hillary up on this and organize a real, blue ribbon group of his choosing, led by Hillary and cram the truth down their throats.

"Government is not the solution; government is the problem." Ronald Reagan

America will never be safe as long as a single Democrat holds elected public office.

I think any commission that has Zell Miller and John Breaux...probably gives major problems to the city mayor of NO, and in particular to the governor. These guys will ask the questions that bring out the entire story. This is not a pretty sight.

First, the city of NO had no real evacuation plan...and whatever they had on paper simply wouldn't have worked. So the SuperDome episode was triggered by this, as well as the buses that might have been there to take folks out of town.

Second, the governor who should have had leadership abilities...didn't. By the time the governor woke and realized just how bad it was...it was already the end of the second day after the storm.

Third, FEMA did what they do for any normal storm, and expected the state and city government to carry out emerency operations for the first 24-48 hours before their equipment showed up. FEMA should have second-guessed this one particular state and known that they didn't have a plan or a way to make it work.

Fourth, the cops that should have controlled the town after the storm for 48 hours...ran into the biggest bunch of criminals that you could put together. All those fools that ran around selling crack and robbing folks for the last 20 years...and the cops didn't do anything about it...got themselves an entire town to rob and burn.

Fifth, Congress and the Corps...should have figured out 25 years ago that NO was under sealevel and couldn't fair well through a storm. They could have set up a 15-year program to upgrade the levies and ensure safety...and never pay more than $200 million a year. But they didn't...nor did the state or the city itself.

And as for GW...his second sense should have told him that those damn fools in NO were incapable of handling an emergency...unlike Texans or Floridians or just about any other state. He might as well declare martial law the day before any future storm hits NO...and put a fed guy in charge.

Someone should ask Hillary about the propriety of James Lee Witt giving the wench who just awarded him a fat contract legal advice on how to avoid a federal takeover of the disaster response.

Hitlery will insist on putting Witt and Blanco (IMHO, the two people most respnsible for the cluster<expletive deleted> in Louisiana) on the commission.

There will be a new set of Jersey Girls, another big mouth like Richad Clarke, with perhaps even Blanco and the mayor on the commission (in analogy to Gorelick on the 911 commission).

I doubt the mayor will be on there; he's a bit too "independent" of the RAT Machine's control (he's an ex-Pubbie who backed Pubbies for election while a RAT).

Hillary expects this to be like the 911 commission- rigged to shift all blame to President Bush and exclude Democrat criminal negligence-

This is just another form of OBSTRUCTION.

All the time and energy sucked out of the presidents term by fact finding commissions.

So what if a few minor politicians end up getting all the blame ?

We have a Republican house, senate, and president. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to get things accomplished.

It would serve the democrat's cause to spend our moment in useless political theatre.

I'm sure she is VERY hopeful for a long-term sideshow to take attention off of Able Danger.

So, I wonder if the Blanco and the mayor will be PART OF this commission the same way Gorelick was part of the 9-11 commission?! It will be just as ridiculous and they would come out as blameless as she did, with NO questions or accountability asked of them.

You're not reading it wrong..They wont touch another Dem politician . It will be a telivised Bush bashing fest and nothing more. The bulk of the American public will eat it up. At this point Bush is just a punching bag no matter what he does and this will be the way it is untill he's gone.

And she'll recommend that James Lee Witt be appointed to the Jamie Gorelick Chair of Intentional Obfuscation and Posterior Cloaking.

Yep , it's a stacked deck out of the gate .It will be a Bush Bash fest and the bulk of the American public will swallow it .Bush bashing is epidemic at this point. I'm almost sick of his presidency due to the endless chatter of Bush's fault. He seems to not even fight back in the least .

Another waste of money and time, something the Dems know all about.

There's something else they know all about: agitprop and political theater. Unless things have suddenly changed, Pubbies are too wedded to truth-telling to win at this dirty game. She's been busily arranging props and painting backdrops and getting her cast of liars and defamers in order.

With the usual character-assassination players lined up to mau-mau the Administration, this little farce will run through the 2006 elections. Public relations is about perception, not reality. She hopes to create enough lies and distortions with help from the anti-Bush media to regain a Democrat majority in Congress and perhaps set her up for her White House run.

Uh, Hillary, LA wasn't prepared. Investigate your democrat colleagues, the mayor, the governor, Ms. Landroooooo. It's their responsibility to prepare for these things, not the president. YOU should know that, Hellary.
