OK - this may just be the most stupid, moronic comment I have ever heard from an Australian politician - and that's saying something. And this is from a man I normally respect on defence issues.

But is he seriously suggesting that the Australian government should have asked US servicemen to disobey orders not to let foreign diplomats into the disaster area?

And is he seriously suggesting that if such a request was made, that US servicemen would have done it?

Good grief.

I don't care who sends them. If foreign troops ever set foot on US soil they should be shipped back dead....

He's probably suggesting that, by knowing the right people, a couple of folks could have gotten "official" passes to enter NO through the checkpoints, retrieve the Aussies, and leave. Stuff like this happens all the time. I don't get the impression he's planning an invasion at all. So let's not get hysterical about it.
