I think the mayor and the governor had better start thinking about new career paths. They're both coming across as personally weak and professionally incompetent. The voters (those who don't permanently leave the state, anyway) are going to remember this in 2006.
"They're both coming across as personally weak and professionally incompetent."
They certainly wouldn't give me hope if I were stranded in New Orleans.
I heard the mayor whining about, don't talk to me about no damn school buses, we need all the Greyhound buses from all over the country down here. What's that all about? School buses aren't good enough for his people??
I agree with you that the mayor and governor are finished politically.
Furthermore, i believe that an investigation will soon be underway wrt that mayor. There was something very ominous about that radio interview he did last night. He talked for probably 10 minutes about the needs of the drug addicts. That being the reason they were looting and overtaking hospitals and shooting at the police, etc, etc.
I didn't hear him say much about the women who were giving birth on the I-10 and in the Astrodome. He didn't say much about the people in hospitals who were on respirators. He didn't say anything about the diabetics out there who are probably having a "jones" for their insulin.
But he did state that he himself wasn't a drug addict. This guy needs to be investigated. Because if he is involved with drugs it could have contributed to the incompetent leadership he's shown throughout this whole thing.
Another thing he did that made no sense was evacuating the felons from prison very early on. Why did those people get the best treatment while the diabetics and elderly were walking the streets in waist deep waters or sitting on their roofs without food and water.
