Larry King Live: Where Are The Democrats?

Posted on 09/01/2005 7:37:34 PM PDT by kruelio

I'm watching Larry King Live and I notice that he (and Anderson Cooper, CNN in general, and Keith Olbermann) are all expressing outrage at the lack of support to the people of New Orleans that have been without food or water for 3 days.

However, Larry King's guests are all Republicans. Not a single Democrat or member of LA government has been on his show. Not a single mention of the LA government's previous evacuation plan, especially with regards to transportation to those on welfare with no savings.

I know it's still early and we shouldn't be blaming anyone, but we're constantly told by the media that their job is to ask the tough questions. Yet the only question I hear is if we should we pull troops out of Iraq and send them to New Orleans while the New York Times criticized Bush's first post-Katrina speech in the Rose Garden.

It all makes me extremely frustrated. If I were a Republican running for office in LA I would have a plethora of ammunition for my campaign. The Democrats in LA government really screwed up big time.

Well, maybe the Dumbrats haven't had enough time to get their talking points/story straight yet.

Liberalism and socialism are widespread diseases of the mind. The libs here in California recently voted (along strict party lines) to suppress legislation to stop the trashing of Fifth Amendment rights in California...they are hardcore socialists hell-bent on radical power and control -- and to hell with our Constitution!

It is going to be a fight!!!

"The Democrats in LA government really screwed up big time."

They sure did, but you'll never hear about. The worse things get, the more criticism of Bush will be trumpeted.

From what I saw in the news conference with Governor Blanco and Mary Landreau(sp?) the other day, I am very HAPPY to be a TEXAN. Those two wouldn't be able to motivate a suicidal to jump off a cliff.

Blanco spent an hour on LKL and was on the verge of a breakdown.

"Larry King Live: Where Are The Democrats?"

Only Bill Clinton has come out on this.

Dem leadership don't have real people skills.

Once again, the whole situation is the fault of the Democratic party, it's extreme leftwing in particular.

As we all recall, Larry Flint blackmailed Bob Livingston out of the running for Speaker of the House after Newt Gingrich resigned.

Consequently, SE Louisiana was left without a major champion for the levee/seawall system in Congress.

Further, since the days of Andrew Jackson, the Democrats have run New Orleans ~ pausing only for a short run by the Union Army ~ and any time they wished they could have solved all the flooding problems there, irrespective of the strength of the storms that come through.

The Republicans have nothing to apologize for, although they are going to have to defend themselves by pointing to Larry Flint's perfidy, and the cowardice of the Louisiana Democratic party.

The Democrat hierarchy in Louisiana has decided to ditch New Orleans for good and all. Though the Big Easy has been a valuable source of electoral power for the Louisiana state Democrat Machine (going back to the days of Huey Long and maybe quite a while before), it has always been a liability in terms of needing a lot of high-maintenance things done to keep the local power structure happy. Like building dikes and levees, and running pumps, and face it, most of New Orleans is a vast slum, a drag on the economy of the rest of the state, sort of another East St. Louis looming large.

So the levee-building was left up to local contractors, who somehow shaved on the quality of the materials used, while pocketing an unusually large margin for their efforts. This large margin in turn went back to support the local power structure, who were in on the game, but did not let on.

The Federal government didn't get in there fast enough to avert an enormous amount of grief? On the contrary, FEMA was positioning equipment three or four days before the storm hit, an unusual state of affairs in light of other hurricanes in recent history. What they were getting, and this is still one of the great untold stories of this disaster so far, is that the State of Louisiana and the City of New Orleans were FIGHTING the efforts of FEMA, by lack of support and delaying tactics. Sunday the mayor of New Orleans and the state governor should have been on the news outlets shouting "GET OUT GET OUT GET OUT! NOW! THIS IS NOT A DRILL!" If either of them were saying anything, they were whispering.

And now, somehow, it's all Bush's fault. Thousands of people, after three days or more of exposure, are dying awaiting transportation out of the city. But really, the blame should be at the hands of the inept Democrat political machine that has been in charge of this city since long before even the Civil War.

If New Orleans had been hit with an Islamic jihadist attack, instead of Hurricane Katrina, they couldn't possibly have caused this much damage and suffering.

The MSM is trying to protect the incompetance of the LA Democrats. Trouble is they can't protect them from their own citizens that are furious at them and will exact revenge.

FAT CHANCE. The so-called Republican, so-called Leadership in Washington can't even defend themselves in the normal give and take of politics. You can forget about them even trying to defend themselves over this. It might upset CNN or the Washington Post, or Ted Kennedy, and we just can't have that, you know. That would be mean-spirited.

Before a Republican is allowed IN to Washington, DC, his guts, spine, brain, and balls must be surgically removed so he or she can serve as a Demcoratic whipping boy, bending over and taking it up the chute at will from the Dems.

HAVE YOU NOT BEEN PAYING ATTENTION FOR THE LAST 50 YEARS?

I live near DC and watch this stuff go on all the time. However, with the Internet, and you will notice, control of the LARGEST political website in existence, we should be able to do stuff useful in this regard.

My neighbors and I were out today talking and one of them said, "If we weren't spending all that money in Iraq, we could help those people in NO. But because of Iraq we don't have any money!" The rest joined in the chorus with atta boys. I was silent, and sickened. The leftist media is doing their job for democrats very well indeed.

Well, let's see here... even a poorly watched national cable TV show gets a few hundred thousand viewers. How many are on FR right now? How many are reading this thread?

I think the "number" was over 3 million DIFFERENT folks logging in over a year. That's 10 times the number logging into Daily Kos, the biggest leftwing fanatic site.

We are bigger than Drudgereport.com.

why didn't you speak up?

I've really liked watching Larry King this week. His republican guests have been a welcome voice...compared to the normal liberal MSM stuff. Maybe, just maybe, is there a republican on their staff?

Mayor Nagin, if you had declared a mandatory evacuation earlier, and used free busing to take evacuees westward via school bus, couldn't you have saved thousands of poor citizens' lives (and a fleet of buses)?

Mayor Nagin, is it true that only after the President instructed the Governor to declare mandatory evacuation and she in turn poked you with a pointy stick were you willing to take to the microphone to issue the declaration?

Mayor Nagin, how many lives were lost by the eighty-minute delay in your Sunday morning evacuation declaration?

Mayor Nagin, are you stoned?
