Excuse me, how about the democrats doing their part to increase oil exploration on this continent and low sulfur coal and new refineries and nuclear power plants?

Let the talk of this continue. We have a horrendous nation tradgedy taking place and the DNC is blaming oil companies!!

They're a joke and any free thinking person has got to be shaking their head.

Sorry, I know this isn't going to be well recieved. But if you believe the oil companies aren't profiteering over all this, you're very naieve.

This comes from the Rats playbook but unfortunately this time it may work. Republicans and Democrats have certain investments in oil and gas companies but it's the party in charge that gets left holding the bag.

I love how "Americans are struggling to pay their bills" yet everyone and their brother is building 500-million dollar home. Maybe they wouldn't be struggling to pay their bills if they didn't take out an interest only mortgage on a $900,000 house when they "only" make $100,000 a year (I saw a story recently where a mortgage lender actually approved this loan).

actually, to be factual, you have to acknowledge they're taking both profits AND (MAJOR) LOSSES.

The liberal loony left is really pushing the limits, though - last night I saw the idiot (Huffington Post contributor) Harry Shearer bemoaning the (stupidly alleged) failure to prepare the 10,000 lb sandbags to plug the holes in the levy ahead of time & was aghast at how stupid he was not to realize or his hatred would not even let him ponder ... where, exactly, would they stage such preparation? In the path of the hurricane?

There is an over-abundance of rotting liberals -- let's start processing them into fuel...

Just a note to the libs -- your poster girl, Hitlery voted TWO TIMES AGAINST drilling in ANWHAR...pandering, of course, to the whacko-lib-conservationists. She could care less about Alaska, JUST VOTES.

I'll receive it well. Another comic aspect of the crisis is when the oil company PR flacks come out and blame regulations for lack of new refineries - as if they were interested in building new ones to lower their profits.

Most of the current price increase has to do with speculation, increased US demand via SUVs, China, etc.

It should have been pre-staged. And the breaches did not occur during the high winds, but a day later.

Is the "liberal loony left" the numerous posters here who have said the same?

"It's called CAPITALISM.....supply and demand.....economics 101....."

Those things on your head... they're called BLINDERS!

Apply economics 101 to something as complex as the US economy and you'll get a result you won't expect.

Time for oil from coal...

Time for oil from Dean's head...

I forget the Texas Legislator who once said:
"When stupidity gets to $35 a barrel, I want drilling rights on that guy's head!"

If you don't believe in the simple economic truth of supply and demand, which does in fact apply to any and every economy that ever existed, then you don't have a clue. If the oil companies are breaking laws (collusion on prices, etc.), then that is one thing, but the left is always trying to paint them as evil merely for making a profit (it's the old class warfare, corporations are evil, Marxist thinking).
