I have an online classmate in Japan. He said they are showing the hurricane footage quite a bit there. He is in shock over the damage.

Haven't heard that but it wouldn't surprise me... weren't they among the first to offer help after 9/11.
And I imagine the Brits will offer some token assistance...the know what side their bread is buttered on.
